WHO: Natasha and Clint
WHAT: Another trip through the doors
WHERE: Small Town
WHEN: Today

The doors were still a source of mystery to Natasha, even after her trips through before had ended not quite happily she was still eager to go through again and see what she might find on the other side, and today she was roping Clint into coming along with her. After all what was the fun of an adventure with no one to share it with? And she hadn't had nearly enough time with him since she'd arrived, her own fault mostly, but she was looking to change that.

So there they were, "I've got a good feeling about this one." She'd told him as she pulled open the door and they'd stepped through.

"Look, it's not forever, just for a couple of weeks." Her manager had said to her.

Natasha hadn't wanted to leave, but she needed to get out of the city, even she could admit that much. After her relationship had fallen apart very publicly with her partner announcing to the world that he was getting married to his mistress who was also pregnant? Well she'd been hounded relentlessly with people wanting her to comment on it, but she'd still been processing it all herself, how was she supposed to tell them anything about what she felt when not even she knew the answer to that. "What am I supposed to do out there for a couple of weeks?" She'd complained.

But she knew it would be good to get away for a little while, where she didn't have a camera in her face every time she stepped out the door.

"Relax, take in the scenery, maybe you'll meet someone." Natasha had to hold back the groan that wanted to come out. But there had been no arguing it, and she'd been on a flight later that same day, which had ended in an hour drive to a little bed and breakfast that might have been sweet if she was out here for any other reason than getting over a broken heart. But things were what they were and she made her wearily inside, leaning against the counter and rang the bell.

Definitely it was about nostalgia and simpler times -- a town like this, hell, most people didn't even lock their doors to their homes. So all that fancy key card stuff would seem out of place. Clint liked it around here for those reasons -- no need to ever feel worry or concern about stuff you shouldn't have had to anyway. He liked to think that people who visited could get something good out of the experience, too.

"Comics," Clint said, grinning in a way that said he probably should be embarrassed, but he really just wasn't. No point in being shamed for something you liked if it wasn't weird, right? He pulled the stack up and set it closer to Natasha, to show off a varied pile. "You ever read any? This one's basically a space opera," he said, tapping at the top issue.

It was probably something she would have appreciated at some other time, maybe after she'd had a shower and a sleep - the sort of nostalgia of this place, days gone by and a simpler time all of that sort of thing. But at the moment it all just seemed to serve as a sort of reminder that she was running from something - which was exactly what she was trying to forget.

The comics at least were a welcome distraction, and she tilted her head a little to see the titles when he brought the stack up for her to see. It wasn't what she'd expected, but she certainly wasn't about to suggest that a grown man couldn't enjoy some comics if he wanted to. "It's been a while," She admitted, but enjoyed the look of the cover he said was basically a space opera. It was unlike anything she'd ever read before.

"I always liked the ah, I guess Archie comics?" She told him, not sure if that was the name anymore or not. "For a while there I told myself I could be a comic book artist, I had a whole shoe box full of my own hand drawn comics." She admitted with a soft laugh, surprised that the memory had come to her so quickly like that. But he was a welcome thing considering what had filled her head so much recently.

"Sure, Archie comics," Clint agreed, because he read a bit of everything, and who didn't love a little bit of Veronica and Betty, or Sabrina the teenaged Witch? It wasn't his favorite, but he could see why others liked them, and why they'd run basically forever -- years and years. Comics didn't last like that if they weren't popular.

He grinned at the idea of this woman hiding away shoeboxes worth of drawings and comics. It was charming, kind of. He didn't know why -- she just didn't quite seem like the sort. "It's never too late to start up again," he said with a smile. "You wanna borrow some to read, you feel free. Want me to --show you to your room?" Clint liked the conversation and all, but he knew better than to try keeping people for too long.
