Who: The whole town. Yes, you too.
What: The Great Snowball War of 2k19
Where: The whole town
When: December 1

She had heard a great deal about this snow ball game that was going to be played and Nebula was ready for it, had been since it had first been explained to her by Sirius. But apparently they had needed to wait until there was enough snow for such a thing? Though how much snow was enough was not something she had understood, what made for enough? These were all questions she still had.

But the town had been covered in a blanket of snow over the last several weeks, with large piles of it build up along the edges of town as well as butted up against their houses where the snow had been blown during the days where it had been windier than others. And it seemed that they had finally reached that point of enough, though she saw no particular difference in the amount compared to some other days. This would be her first time though so she supposed that she could allow the others to decide when it was ready for their game.

And so there they were ready for the snowball game, teams dividing up, some playing individually, and others pairing up, as she and Remus planned to do - it was time for a great battle.

A run for their money? No. She was going to murder them. They were going to be buried under a mound of snow and no one would find their bodies until the town thawed in April, possibly. He gave Stan a look communicating as much. In spite of knowing the end was near, once again, Eddie was actually happy to see Stan in such high spirits over something so stupid and childish. Something they both would've wound up severely lectured about back home by overprotective or disappointed parents. "She's going to murder us and Rich will let her." They were probably out there plotting against the two of them right now.

And, yes, he knew that they were friends with some real assholes. That Richie Tozier and Beverly Marsh wouldn't even think twice about dragging them out of the warmth and relative safety of COFFEE and just assaulting them with snow. He just liked to imagine that they could slip away with absolutely no repercussions. "Between houses is probably best." He agreed. Maybe they could find a way to keep their backs covered too. They didn't want to completely wall themselves in but they didn't want to be completely open from behind. Though, maybe they could just watch each other's backs. "We'll just have to remember to keep track of them. Watch our backs if we lose sight of one."

As children, Richie had taken a rock to the face during the rock war while the others had faired better. Taking him out probably wasn't much of a problem. "How am I supposed to distract him?" They were in the middle of a war. He doubted Richie would be swayed too easily. He'd be surprised if the other didn't become immediately suspicious.

"No Richie won't let her murder us, well he'll let her murder me, he'll probably let her maim you." Stan said laughing as they both agreed that they weren't going to do that well with all of this. But Stan wasn't about to just wave the white flag before they'd started. He hadn't gotten to do anything like this in - well forever, maybe even longer than that and he wanted the chance to just run around and be crazy for a little while without having to worry about anything. And if there was anyone he could do that with it was his fellow Losers.

So yes, between houses was going to be their best option, Stan looked around for a good choice pointing one out to Eddie as he started off in that direction. "Yeah, we definitely don't want to end up pinned between them." An assault from one side was guaranteed, but they didn't need it from two. So between the houses they could build up a sort of wall on both sides of them, higher on one side to protect them from the back so they could focus on facing Bev and Richie from one side only.

"What do you mean, like.... show him your leg or something." Stan said of distracting Richie, "I don't know, something that'll bring him up short so we can take him out." Stan was entirely certain that if he wanted Eddie could absolutely distract Richie long enough to slow him up for a minute at least.

Like being maimed was any better. Sure, he'd live but it wouldn't be a good life. "I'm pretty sure he'd let her kill us both. He'd figure he wouldn't have anything left to lose. Either I die or I live and break the fuck up with him." Their relationship could stand a lot of things but he was childish enough to claim it wouldn't last through his maiming in a snowball war. "Richie had better just throw in the towel now if he ever wants to see those shorts again." He huffed thought that may have been a little more information than Stan wanted or needed to hear.

He followed Stan towards the chosen base, inspecting both sides of the house once they'd arrived there. It would probably be a little funny if the other two assumed they were the type to try and run while tossing snowballs. If they were building up their own defenses somewhere else. Guessing wrong could lead to the slowest snowball war in the history of ever. "I wouldn't put it past them to try either..." He said as he began to work on the wall behind them, packing in snow to try and make a solid enough structure that couldn't just be plowed through.

He laughed at the suggestion and shook his head. "Shut up, Stanley." He said warmly. Though, he supposed, it could work. Richie might be suspicious at first but a flash of skin usually drew his attention away from whatever else he was doing. "I think we both know there are better ways of distracting him that don't involve letting my leg freeze." The problem, of course, was making sure that Eddie didn't get swept away in whatever he would, inevitably, be yelling at Richie about. It was entirely possible this whole thing would end with Stan facing off against Bev because he and Richie were the first casualties.

"I guess that means Bev is going to have to kill all three of us then." Stan said shaking his head while Eddie lamented their current situation, "We should have put her on her own team and tried to face her as a unified front." He was fairly certain she'd still murder them all even so, but even if that was true it wasn't fair to put her out there on her own, even if she didn't need any of their help to win this snowball war. As for the shorts that Richie might or might not get to see again, Stan didn't say anything, he had a feeling he probably could guess at what that meant without actually being told, and really some things he didn't actually need to know.

Especially not when they had a snow fort to build, and while Eddie got to work on the back wall, he started building them the wall for the front, it would be lower than the back, something for them to duck down behind and hide if they started taking fire. "I'm positive Bev is coming up with a game plan as we speak," Stan agreed, one that would end up with their eventual death by snowball.

"I'm just saying!" Stan protested when Eddie told him to shut up. "He wants you, we might as well flaunt that." He told him, get Richie out of the way quickly and then they could focus on Bev. "Okay okay, how about you say something about whatever those shorts are, I don't need to know the details -" He was quick to add, "-But you know tell him something about surrendering if he wants to see them again. Maybe even see if you can get him to turn on Bev." He suggested. Maybe that'd work? Or maybe that was just the start of whatever that was going to end up with Richie and Eddie tackling each other into the snow leaving him to Bev on his own.

"And you know she's capable of it." He said, offering Stan a smile. Beverly was going to fucking destroy them. Maybe he didn't like that idea but it was kind of funny. "The only way to make this a fair fight would be with all of the other Losers on our team. All of them. Then we might stand a chance against her." He was overexaggerating. He knew he was but there was no denying that Beverly was the strongest out of all of them. There was also no shame in admitting to any of that.

The backwall needed to be high enough to protect them from an attack from behind. It had to be tall enough to protect Stan who was still a couple of inches taller than Eddie. He got to work doing just that and was glad that he'd picked the right sort of gloves for the job. Anything knitted would've been soaked through by now. "Well, it's a good thing I have you to help me plan then. Bev and Rich are impulsive. Moreso when the two of them are together. It might benefit us." And, sure, Eddie had always been full of chaotic energy but Stan had usually managed to settle him. To focus him. They might have an advantage if they didn't get split up.

He covered his face with his hands for a moment as the other spoke and shook his head. "They're just shorts! Just... red running shorts." And, okay, maybe that wasn't true. Maybe it wasn't true to Richie and maybe it was a little reminiscent of their youth but, at their core, the shorts were just shorts. Sure, they were short shorts but they were still just clothing. When he pulled his hands away he was quick to shrug his shoulders a little. "I mean. I'll probably tell him that anyway. That's not even a strategic threat. It's a fucking promise. If he hits me with snow I'll fucking live in the hammock by myself." He wouldn't. Starklandia was too dark at night for him to be comfortable with that but he could still say it.

Stan nodded, oh yes, he knew only too well what Bev could do if she really wanted to. Luckily for all of them it was just a game so the worst they'd have to deal with was wet clothes and maybe some sniffles if things went really poorly. "You know she'd win even then." Stan reminded him with a laugh, but it didn't matter - it was the first time he was going to have some real honest to god fun here and he wasn't going to let the fact that Bev was going to murder them all be the thing that stopped him from enjoying this.

He started up their pile of snowballs working quickly to get as many of them packed and ready for whenever Bev and Richie started whatever they had planned so they wouldn't be stuck trying to make more while they were being hit by their friends. "See that's the spirit - those two are wild together, the odds of them making a plan and sticking to it?" He tksed shaking his head, no way was that gonna happen. "We've got this Eddie, trust me." It didn't matter if it was true or not in his mind, as long as they tried.

"Well they obviously mean something," Stan pointed out because if they were just shorts then Eddie wouldn't have reacted like that. "But whatever, just distract him with them, threaten him, get his head out of the game so we can take him out and this will all be that much easier." So they had a vague sort of plan, though calling it a plan was probably a bit generous, but Stan was going to go with plan. Because he could and that was just all it was going to be.

"I'm just saying we'd have a fair shot then." Because, yeah, he knew what their chances looked like even with every male Loser on their team. "Not to mention she'd be the only one capable of talking one of us to switch sides. Ben's crazy about her. He'd do it in a heartbeat. We just have make sure we keep Bill on our team." Because he was pretty sure that Mike would go wherever Bill was. Beverly would gain three new teammates and then the four of them would proceed to kill the three of them with snow. Those traitorous assholes. Why were the people he loved so much the absolute worst?

He was still smiling at the thought as he worked, building up a wall and doing his best to make the ammunition he decided to help create equal in size. Whatever fit in his hand best for throwing. He could probably calculate the odds of Beverly and Richie sticking to a plan if he really wanted to. That was sort of his job back home. Risk analysis was just a way to try and predict the future through math. He sort of didn't care to know the exact odds at the moment. He didn't care about statistics. It was enough, for the moment, to watch Stan, to listen to him tsk and be comforted by his words. "Of course I trust you." He said. "You'd never point me in the wrong direction. Not while we were on the same team at least." Because Stan was great but he was a Loser so he could be an asshole when he wanted to.

Like when he was bringing up the shorts. Eddie had been trying to downplay it a little because, yeah, he knew it meant something. They didn't need to get into it. It was better to focus on the plan. What little of a plan they had. "It's probably important to stick together. To try and not be lured out into the open or into chasing after anyone." That was more of a reminder for him because, yeah, he understood his weaknesses. He was certain Richie and Beverly were going to use them against him. It was better to remind himself to stick close to Stan. Setting aside a snowball into the neat little piles they were making a thought occurred to him. "Do you think either of us will actually be able to hit anything?"

"Yeah we've got a fair shot until she gets Ben on her side with a look and he builds her the best fort any of us have ever seen." He agreed, and of course Eddie was right about Bill too - because Bill was a great leader and he'd encourage them of course, but if Bill went Mike would go too and well then they'd die. It was really probably for the best that it was just the four of them in any case, though the results would be the same in the end, they were gonna die and Bev was gonna come out on top - just the way it was meant to go. Some things wouldn't be changed no matter where they were or when.

Their little snow fort was maybe not the thing of beauty Stan was entirely certain Ben could have created, but it was taking shape and that was probably enough for now. And after that it was just making as many snowball as they could so they'd have plenty of ammunition to keep the other two at bay for as long as possible, because sure Stan was talking up their chances but he was also a realist and he knew their own odds of surviving this were not all that great. "All that matters is that we're on the same team right now." He grinned, because they were and that meant he and Eddie were sticking together through all of this until they either were murdered or they won.

"You read my mind," He agreed of Eddie's reminder that they stick together, it would be important if Richie and Bev managed to separate them well they were both done for. So hopefully they could remember that one thing, the biggest part of the plan was staying together as a unit. The second most important thing? "Uh.... well, maybe?" He shrugged, because well - they had a lot of snowballs surely if they threw enough they'd hit something. "I mean yeah, of course, I mean come on - we can throw things." He said reminded of the rock fight they'd had so many years ago, they'd managed to get some pretty good hits in that day too - snow balls were even easier than rocks. They could totally -

"Uh-" Stan said looking out over the snow covered ground to try and see where Bev and Richie were setting up narrowed his eyes, "Am I seeing things or is that Bev trying to climb a tree?" He asked.

"Oh fuck, oh fuck. Shit!" Richie muttered to himself, trying to cram together new snowballs at a high speed rate now that he'd given all of his away to Beverly, right along with his coat. It was poorly thought out, maybe, but more poorly thought out was the fact that they'd both thought that no one would see Bev trying to climb up that tree. It was fine though, so far it looked like it was only Stan -- look, Richie didn't have a hard time spotting anyone out when he basically towered above everyone like some kind of awkward giraffe.

So really, the best way to keep Bev from having too much attention paid to her was to start lobbing snowballs at his two best friends as soon as he was in close enough range to do so. Depth perception wasn't even remotely something he was good at, not with his eyesight, but he figured he could make up for that by just going quantity over quality. "Hey, Losers!" He called out gleeful and evil even as he threw another one. It hit the wall of snow that had been built there, but hey, close!

Where even did Stan and Eddie come from?? See, Beverly thought that they were in the clear, and those two could be lured closer - but apparently Stan had bionic vision or maybe he was used to looking toward the sky to watch his birds. Fine, whatever - she wasn't about to let Richie get clobbered (especially when he wasn't wearing a coat), and while her aim was good she wasn't sure if she could lob a snowball far enough from this vantage point.

Well, only one way to find out.

She shimmed on the branch, straddling it with thigh muscles that could choke a man to death, and reached into the depths of the snowball sack. The bullseye was right on the back of Stan's head, so she zoned in and tossed a snowball, one after the other. They knew where she was now, so it wouldn't be a surprise where the attack was coming from, but her next plan was to wait until one of them was directly below her and then fall on top of whomever it was like the graceful swan she was.

Kind of going with the flow here, but whatever.

"What the fuck, Rich!" Stan shouted, laughter in his tone as Richie started lobbing snowballs in their direction, they hadn't gotten to prepare quite as much as he might have liked, but they had a good enough plan as long as they stuck to it - and well just like they'd said Richie and Bev were completely nuts, one of them up a tree and Richie out there trying his best.

"Alright, remember the plan, Eddie." He reminded his friend as he started gathering up snowballs and tossing them right back, his own aim not quite as spot on as he might have liked, but he was gonna figure it out - gathering up another he threw it again aiming for Rich, while keeping an eye on Bev just to make sure she didn't get any crazy ideas or ... you know end up falling out of the tree. God only his friends would think climbing a tree was a normal part of a snowball fight.

Stan basically just took the words right out of Eddie's mouth just with a little more laughter and a lot less anger. He had just moved from the back wall to try and see if Stan was right, if Bev was really climbing up a tree when he had to duck just a little behind the wall Stan had built because Richie had appeared and just started hurly snowballs at them, like a madman. No one was hit thus far but a few of them came a little close and it was clear who the target was. He could work with that.

Popping up again with a neatly packed snowball he froze when he caught a good glimpse of Richie. Sure, he had gloves on and a sweater but there was a distinct lack of a coat and no hat. Eddie stared at the other, obviously upset by this revelation and it was probably a good idea that Stan was reminding him of the plan because he wanted nothing more than to climb over that neatly packed barrier and just tear into the other man.

He settled, instead, for throwing snowballs at the idiot. Angrily. Hurling them as hard and as fast as he could. He'd fucking murder Richie with snow for this! "Where the fuck is your coat, Richie?!"

This was a fucking disaster.

Eddie and Stan had shit aim, Richie had a distinct lack of depth perception and Beverly was over in a tree throwing snowballs that weren't making it near far enough. And she'd already been spotted. Richie backed up anyway -- a little more out of surprise than actually keeping with their plan (although there was that, too). Eddie was pissed. Case in point - one of his snowballs actually made contact and Richie had to pause his own frantic throwing in order to look utterly betrayed. It was just his shoulder, but still.

"I gave it to a lady!" He shouted back, shoes slipping a little in the snow even as he took another few steps back. Sure, the lady was Bev, and it was for the express purpose of carrying more snow, but Eddie didn't need to know that. Or Stan. But at least Stan was laughing.
