Title: Found in the Moments Between the Search

Characters: Snape/Sirius (with appearances by Harry, Remus, Dumbledore, and a small army of others)

Rating: adult/NC-17

Content Info: *rough (but consensual) sex, more snark than you can shake a wand at*

Summary: When Sirius returns from beyond the Veil with knowledge of Voldemort's Horcruxes, he takes on the task of finding and destroying them. Somewhere along the way he finds an unexpected ally and perhaps something more. (AU from the end of OotP, takes place during HBP period)

Disclaimer: The world of HP and its characters belongs to Rowling.

Word count: ~26,500

Author Notes: 7types, you said that you'd like to see Severus and Sirius resolve their fraught history. I believe they've managed that here, even if it took them 26K words to do so!

Heaps and heaps of gratitude to everyone who served as brainstorm buddy, cheerleader, sympathetic ear, and/or beta during the creation of this monster.

Excellent, just excellent. I normally find Severus/Sirius very difficult to believe, but you do a fine job of making their relationship plausible, developing it slowly and skillfully, bringing them together in logical ways.

I like AU plot -- it covers all the main canon points in believable alternatives, and I particularly enjoyed the way you dispatch in a line or two things that took chapters upon chapters in canon. (Example: the destruction of the Ravenclaw diadem.) I'm not criticizing the canon presentation, since in that version of the story, these incidents were important. But they're not needed in your alternative story; you just need the characters.

And what characters they are! My favorite parts are the conversations between Sirius and Severus: so beautifully IC, so well-structured and paced, just so satisfying overall. I could quote dozens of lines, but these are typically fun:

"One lager? That hardly makes me a drunkard, Snape. But I dare say you could use one more than me. Might loosen you up enough for you to get that hot poker out of your arse."
"Alcohol has never helped you to get your head out of yours."

You show us so clearly the adolescents still raging inside the grown men. And a great job with Remus, too -- all of them, really.

I was sorry to see the story end.

Uh, hi! ::waves:: Yeeaaah, this is the latest reply to a comment pretty much in the history of EVAR. ::headdesk x1,000:: Still, even though it's waaaaaay late, I wanted to let you know that your comment made my day. ♥

I'm always thrilled when I can make someone enjoy a pairing that's not usually their thing -- especially when it's Snack. ;) And I'm SO GLAD about your remarks about the way I handled the AU. I had to work this story into the canon world as it was set up, but I didn't want it to feel like a big, boring rehash of canon. So huge yay that I seem to have managed that! Whew!

And also yay for the Snape'n'Sirius interactions working. I love writing their snark, of course, but changing the tone of their snark over time can be tricky. ;) They're a complicated pairing, with one of them in denial and the other often oblivious. LOL Which would be why I love them, I imagine. ;)

Anyway, rambling... What I mean to say is... Thank you! ♥
