Okay... Into the deep! My first rec is the (finally finished) fic 'Into the Ether' by duj.

Unable to confide in anyone (being a spy and sekrit agent), Severus sends letters into the future. Into a future where he no longer exists. He sends them to the first-year who impressed him by solving his riddle. Letter for letter follows the Potter saga to the letter, but from the 'other side' so to speak, until the twist in the end.

Next, I want to focus your attention to Thomas Hobbs. Thomas is an absolutely *fabulous* writer; sarky, intelligent, critical of the Potterverse... In fact, his only flaw is that he writes too slow. He takes ages between updates (and his spelling sucks. He knows this :). His stories are all WIP's, but since they are so bloody brilliant, I hope you'll read what he wrote, and then egg him on to write faster.

His 'Slaving Slytherin' is post DH. What will happen with House Slytherin. What is the 'American Solution' and what is the story behind that whole 'muggle' business. More importantly, what is Severus doing inside Molly's head? A complicated story, but one which is so brilliant that it takes my breath away. I just wish Thomas would hurry up and post the next chapter already. And the next. Warning; use of F word, insanity.

Thomas Hobbs also wrote 'From the Mouth of Babes' (which he updates even rarer), a total AU, where the Potters took Dumbledore's advice and survived. The story is told from four year old Harry's viewpoint. As they say, from the mouth of babes...

Finally, I want to focus your attention to another brilliant writer, our own terri_testing. She writes the most brilliant (truly staggeringly brilliant) HP essays and fics.  My favourites include the brilliant 'Petunia' fic 'The Girl and the Boy', 'Too Much There' and 'Unlikely Allies'.  
In 'Too Much There' it is Snape who is sent to introduce Harry to the WW, with the strict order to make himself hateful. In it and its sequel 'Unlikely Allies' we get a glimps of what might have been. Excellent characterisations as per usual.
