Friday Recs: multi-chaptered stories from the SS/HG Exchange

As I said last week, the general quality of this Exchange is so good that it’s difficult to choose, and I find it even more difficult as I haven’t yet read everything. Among the multi-chaptered stories I managed to read so far, I particularly liked the following:

Summary: Hermione discovers that a relationship with Ron is not what she wants, and helps Snape recover from coma after Shrieking Shack.

 Rating: Mature

Rune Reader is a very engaging story: the author captures our interest from the first lines with a delightful original character: Bathsheba Babbling, nicknamed Babbling Bat, former Head of Slytherin and Mistress of Runes. She has quite a backstory with Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape…but let’s not spoil the story, which also features a very interesting Hermione, who holds grudges and has some issues, but ultimately does the right thing from enlightened self-interest.

Mea Culpa )

Rating: PG-13
Summary: While on vacation in Italy, Hermione stumbles into an unexpected and dangerous adventure.

Mea Culpa is a lovely cross-over between the universe of  Muggle espionage à la Bourne Identity and the Potterverse. Snape has survived his wounds, but he has disappeared. While on holiday in Italy, Hermione discovers by chance that he has become a high skilled spy – but in the Muggle world. She will then become involved in a breathtaking and highly dangerous adventure…

**************

Also, I’ll recommend again my own gift, which is a brilliant, moving, utterly entrancing story:

Rating: R
Warnings: None, unless you fear the present tense.
Summary: Exiled from the wizarding world, Hermione finds a travel companion and discovers that home can be found in the most unexpected of places. DH compatible, but AU for the epilogue.

It's a superb travelogue, full of action, mystery, snarky banter, snappy romance and splendid characterization. Warning: you won't be able to stop until the end, and you won't be able to stop squeeing at the end!

**************

And also two stories which have already been recced all over the place and which fully deserve it. If by any chance you haven’t yet read them, don’t go, run!

Rating: Mature
Warnings: EWE
Summary/Prompt: As a youth, Snape enchanted his Potions journal to ensnare Lily. It didn’t work until years later when it got Hermione instead. Just use your imagination- this can go anywhere.

This story is pure bliss – and I won’t tell you more.

Title: The Men that I Used to Sport With
Recipient: shiv5468
Rating: mature
Warnings: Threesome fic with two males, so yes, they won’t keep their hands off each other. Plus, a hint of bondage. Oh, and it’s DH-compliant, including the prologue.

This story is the gift for Shiv, and trust me – or trust her -  it’s good. Very good. More than good.

Yes, I said I was cutting back on the internet for Lent, but it's the weekend - I'm posting on weekends only. So, if anyone hasn't been there, I highly recommend the deadly hollow community. It's hilarious! The excerpt I'm posting is a conversation between Sacred Sarcasm and Gehayi - the filk of Dr. Seuss is by Gehayi, and, I promise, it's a must-read. Both my sister and I couldn't stop laughing. It follows a quite brilliant send up of "The Sacking of Severus Snape", which I also recommend.
