Note: this is a prequel of sorts to Motherless Child, in which Snape and Lupin marry and adopt a child. This takes place before the series begins, soon after the end of the first war against Voldemort. Warning for some very nasty attitudes and language.
“The cops?” The Muggle spat in their general direction. “Like they'll listen to a couple o' poofs - “
“Shut it, ya damn bigot,” Severus snarled, and made a gesture in the direction of the man's throat. “Go on then before I turn ya inta a newt.”
The Muggle opened his mouth, eyes widening in horror as he realized he couldn't make a sound. He managed to hiss out a shocked breath, then retreated, hands on his neck as he tried and failed to speak.
“Wandless magic?” said Lupin. “Good job.”
“I've been practicing,” said Severus.
