Note: this is a prequel of sorts to Motherless Child, in which Snape and Lupin marry and adopt a child. This takes place before the series begins, soon after the end of the first war against Voldemort. Warning for some very nasty attitudes and language.
Severus waited to release the silencio until the Muggle had staggered off in search of a doctor or possibly the nearest pub. Lupin smiled and held out his hand.
“Well done, Severus. Well done indeed.”
“I could say the same. That growl was most impressive.” Severus hesitantly took the other man's hand, which was pleasantly dry and callused. “It's not the full moon - “
“It's a side effect of the lycanthropy.” Lupin dropped his hand and stared past Nelson's Column. “I'm sorry, I should have thought before - “
“The idiot deserved it,” said Severus.
