Note: this is a prequel of sorts to Motherless Child, in which Snape and Lupin marry and adopt a child. This takes place before the series begins, soon after the end of the first war against Voldemort. Warning for some very nasty attitudes and language.
“Decent folk?” Severus slowly drew himself to his full sitting height and fixed the Muggle with the calm, unblinking glare that had had lesser Death Eaters all but wetting themselves. “Explain how harassing two strangers qualifies as 'decent.'”
The Muggle's sneer remained in place, even if he took a step backwards. “Men with men is a public disgrace. You and your nancy boy - “
Lupin leaned forward, teeth bared slightly. His eyes were unnaturally bright, his voice husky enough to qualify as a growl. “And what business is it of yours? Geroff yourself before I call the coppers.”
