“I was trying to surprise you, you know.” Remus looked a bit less annoyed once Severus had cast a Silencio on the potato sack. “Nothing more.”
“That had occurred to me.” Severus carefully poured the right amount of oil into the skillet, then beckoned Remus over to watch. “That's why I'm demonstrating the correct technique. It's a bit trickier than it looks.”
“Subtle science and exact art, eh?” Remus nodded as Severus spooned the potato mixture into the bubbling oil. “If this was how your mother cooked - “
“Passed down from her mother,” Severus murmured.
