He only had one year – one would have to be blind not to notice that DADA teachers had the job security of mayflies – and at least some of that would have to undo the damage of Umbridge's tenure. Potter's little band would be fine, and so would most of the Ravenclaws, but the Hufflepuffs in particular would be vulnerable when the crisis came.
As for his own Slytherins...if he were a drinking man, he would have gone through firewhisky at a record pace at the thought of what Vincent Crabbe had managed to absorb from his supplemental reading.
