So many years he'd longed for this job. So many applications. So many lesson plans prepared on the off chance that this would be the year Albus finally decided to let him teach what he loved even more than brewing.
So many children to be trained, drilled, armed with the tools they would need to survive the coming storm.
”Severus...if you are prepared....”
Severus checked his robes one more time, glanced at the lesson plans he knew by heart.
The clock struck nine.
“Yes, Albus,” he said softly to his reflection. “I most definitely am prepared.”
