Severus handed Filch three bottles, two large and one small.

“This should last you for awhile, Filch. The cleaner is twice as powerful as Mrs. Scower’s and should take half as much effort to use.”

“That’ll come in handy, Professor. What’s in the other bottle?” Filch peered closely at the label.

“It’s an extra strong liniment, guaranteed to take the ache out of sore muscles.”

“I can really use that, too. Thanks.”

“My pleasure...” Severus nodded then asked casually. “Have you happened across any interesting contraband lately?”

Filch smiled conspiratorially and nodded toward his stash of confiscated items. “Help yourself.”

Snape gave up on improving Shunpike's deportment after the youth pointed out, correctly, that what he really needed was a fool proof method for removing the faint, omnipresent hot cocoa stains from his uniform. Spells were right out - Shunpike was even worse with a wand than Neville Longbottom - but potions were another matter entirely.

"I don't need a wand? Serious like?" Shunpike poked nervously at a shrivel fig. "That'll be good. I hear old Ollivander - "

"Couldn't make a stain removal tincture to save his life," Snape interrupted. "Now, add five grains of paradise and stir anti-clockwise…."
