Severus palmed the battered tin, anxious about being discovered. Everyone knew that the being caught in the forbidden forest was grounds for detention, if one survived the excursion intact.
He made sure that he was in view of the path to Hagrid's manky hut, then settled down below an expansive fern. With a tap of his wand, he returned the tin and its contents to their normal size, then pried the lid to get to his most embarrassing possession.
Assured of his privacy, Severus spent a most satisfying afternoon telling his best friend all about his first week at Hogwarts.
