Wash leveled the stranger with what he hoped was a disbelieving look, but it might not have come out quite right. "Earth is gone, my friend, which adds weight to my 'this is the afterlife' theory." He turned around to regard the city behind him. "And I don't babble. I narrate, maybe, or ramble occasionally."
He looked back at the other man and smirked. "Of course I'm human. Ain't no aliens in the Black, everybody knows that. Even Reavers are human, in body anyway."
He scratched his temple as he thought back to the last half hour or so of his life. It was already starting to get a bit fuzzy. "Some moon out on the edge of space, I never caught the name of it."
