Who: Amy Pond and the (Eleventh) Doctor
When: backdated to Monday morning
Where: Bryant Park, outside the NY Public Library
What: Long time, no see.
Rating/status: ~PG/Ongoing

Amy left the TARDIS Monday morning with a smile on her face and purpose in her step. The queer winter-in-summer snow was gone, and it was feeling like late August again. The sidewalks were busy with people, businessmen headed for work, mothers dragging their kids around for school shopping, and other people just out to enjoy the sun. Amy headed North towards Bryant Park, where she'd told the Doctor to meet her. They hadn't specified a time, but Amy figured if he could disappear for weeks, then it was alright if she showed up a bit late.

Soon the stone columns and lion statues of the Public Library came into view. Amy quickened her step as she got closer to her destination, making a quick left on the sidewalk to walk behind the building. The park was slightly less crowded than the sidewalks, probably because most people had more important things to do on a Monday than lounge in a park. Amy bet though that it was a popular spot on weekends, what with the wide lawn and stone fountain. It was towards that fountain that Amy headed, keeping an eye out for the Doctor's bow tie and braces as she went.

The room where they had been staying was gone. Well, the room where mostly Amy had been staying, but the Doctor did plan to stay there eventually, he needed to. Either that, or he'd keep making excuses to run about. The whole idea of staying in one room for awhile didn't go over well with the Time Lord; he never was good at staying in one place for too long. It was bad enough he was stuck in the same city during the same time period, let alone having to live in the same place.

The Doctor spotted Amy from where he was standing, behind a tree where he was watching the humans go about their daily lives in front of him. Humans always amazed the Doctor in the most unusual ways.

"You're late," he said as he stepped behind her.

Startled, Amy jumped at the sound of the Doctor's voice. It was a sound she had been waiting far too long to hear, which made her all the more glad to hear it. "I'm late?" she said, knocking him playfully on the shoulder. "Says the man who disappeared for weeks. Honestly, is this a thing with you, making people wait?"

She stood with her hands on her hips, trying not to let her relief from seeing him show. She figured if she acted stern and could make him feel guilty, maybe the Doctor would pay her due attention. "So," she asked, "find out anything useful? Maybe about how we're trapped or why? Or how to get out of here?"
