Dear Christine:
I'm not even sure if this letter will reach you. I hope it does. It's been so lost since I last wrote to you.
You wouldn't recognize the city. Every day people arrives from so many different places. Most of them are not exactly happy about it, but it seems as if there's nothing they can do. Unfortunately, other things have arrived as well. Dangerous things. The things we get at the hospital sometimes. I wish we knew more about it.
I miss you and Georgia so much. I wish
With a sight, Linda dropped the pen and stared at her writing. Almost every single letter she had sent to Christine had come back. Her parents either had no idea where she had gone or didn't want Linda to know. After all these years, they still didn't approve of their daughter's chosen profession. Was another returned letter worth the pain?
Linda was still making her mind when somebody stood in front of her desk. She didn't see the face at first, focusing instead in the way the man held his arm. His suit was black, but she could make a dark outline on his sleeve. Luckily it didn't seen as if the bleeding was too severe.
She smiled as she stood up and greeted the patient as she put the letter in a drawer. She promised herself she would continue it tomorrow.
