Who: Kaylee, Neville, and anyone else who wants to join! When: Friday evening Where: Central Park - between the great hill and harlem moor. Right about where 105th and 7th would intersect. What: crash-landing a shuttle and being very very very confused! Rating: Low Status: closed/openish!
It was impressive how much the ship could fall into disrepair when Kaylee was out of commission so to speak. The wound had left her sore for a few weeks afterward, but with the doctor's help - and was she ever pleased the doctor was staying - she'd gotten back to her feet in no time at all. After making sure Serenity wouldn't drift off aimless, she set off to fix the comm link in the other shuttle. Inara's had been fixed up no problem, but this one was proving just a bit trickier. As she crossed the two copper wires, the door hissed shut and the shuttle shot out of Serenity. "Cap'n!" Kaylee yelled into the comm stupidly before realizing that she hadn't fixed it. No matter, she'd just pilot her back and face his wrath and everyone's snickers when she redocked.
The shuttle seemed to have a mind of its own and it careened towards the nearest planet, which Kaylee was shocked to see looked almost exactly like the maps of Earth-That-Was. How had they managed to terraform it like that? The shuttle wasn't turning around, and oh, of course it was heading for the city center. The shuttle had enough manoeuvrability so that she could direct it towards the only green area she could see. The wasn't a docking pad to be had anywhere around, and Kaylee wondered if this was a failed planet of some sort. No matter. The Cap'n would come. Angry, but he'd come.
Landing wasn't nearly as tricky as she thought it would be, and she glided down, skimming over a body of water and coming to rest near a large open-topped hill meadow area. There were some picnic tables about. First thing she did was open the control panel and see what was up. The haltmac coil had fried. No matter. It was an easy enough fix. She stepped cautiously out of the shuttle, wincing as she saw all these people looking about at her.
"I'm lookin' for a haltmac coil," she said, addressing the first person she saw, a rather nice looking blonde man. "So if you can just point me in the right direction, I can be outta your way again real soon." Granted, the Cap'n would probably come before that, but that was okay. She needed someone to pay for the coil.
