Who: Erik and Lorna, later Raven!
What: Erik attempts to be mentor-like. We'll see if it works.
When:Where: Xavier's mansion, Westchester
Warnings: None

For some ungodly reason Charles enjoyed running. While Erik certainly could, he didn't enjoy repetitive motions especially when there was a general lack of conversation to be had while doing it. Charles would know in the end, but Erik cut the run with the students short. He was, technically, responsible for all of their well beings, but Erik found that he had very easily begun playing favorites. Even towards some of the newer students he barely knew. Could he really be blamed? He didn't know the green haired girl well, and admittedly (like most teenagers) she talked too much and found it too hard to sit still for his tastes, but she had his powers. Or something very similar at least. Not only did he know how dangerous his powers could be unharnessed, he knew how frightening they could be.

Erik waited on the mansion's back terrace, leaning against the stone railings as the moon rose higher in the sky behind him. The satellite was perfectly visible behind him and there was plenty of light coming from the mansion windows and small porch lamps by the door. He'd chosen the night for a reason. The quiet, rhythmic sounds of the evening and lack of distractions (mutants constantly training everywhere created more noise than anything else) were good for concentration. If what Lorna said was true, she was in dire need of some concentration and focus.

He glanced down at his watch, saw that it was only 9:28 and then pulled a handful of change from his pocket. It was mere seconds before it was floating in the air in front of him. Everyone had to start somewhere, and Lorna would be starting with nickles and dimes.

It was twenty minutes after he'd left Lorna that Erik found his way to Raven. He'd not meant to keep her waiting, but suspected she wouldn't have wanted him to know that she was watching to begin with. Her own fault, he'd seen her sitting in the window while he worked with Lorna-- a girl who was causing him no small amount thought. While something like telepathy seemed more common place, Lorna was the first person he'd met with gifts anything like his. It bothered him that he could only be of so much help to her. So far.

His mood was more contemplative than frustrated when he climbed the stairs and found Raven sitting on the window settee.

"You could have come down," he said, coming up from behind to lean against the other side of the fixture.

Unable to hear the contents of conversation, Raven's attention had drifted away from Erik and the girl, her mind wandering instead through avenues of memory and speculation. As was habit these days, her hand cradled her growing (though at the moment hidden) stomach subconsciously, and she wondered how long it would be before she would feel Kurt start to kick.

She was therefore surprised by Erik's approach, and she stood up quickly, hand moving from her stomach to grab hold of the wall. "I didn't want to interrupt," she answered simply. "You make quite the teacher."

Raven wasn't sure what to say then. She couldn't just come outright and ask him why he was here or why it didn't seem like he'd ever left. Still, she had to know... "It's weird, huh, these people showing up here from the future." It was awkward, as conversation starters go, but it was something.

"Why are you getting up?" He shook his head and indicated that she should sit back down where she'd been. She was pregnant after all. "It was never a role I meant to take, but it's easier with Lorna. She has my powers." His exact powers, it seemed at first take. The only difference was her green hair, a side effect that Erik couldn't see coming from magnetism alone.

It would never cease to amaze him that Raven wouldn't walk around in her natural form, especially here surrounded by others like herself. He caught himself frowning slightly as he sat down across from her, but wiped it from his face when he looked up. She had asked him something. "It's no weirder than Charles and I waking up two years in the future. Or being unable to leave. Obviously missing something rather..." Erik glanced at Raven's stomach. "Important."

Raven sat back down, relaxing enough to let slip her blonde façade and revert to her true form, baby bump and all. It was habitual to appear this way in front of Erik after two years with the Brotherhood learning to embrace her appearance. Somehow, though, being in the mansion meant it was all too easy to stay in the form that Charles preferred she hide away in. "That's interesting. Like looking into a mirror." True, she was talking as much about herself and Kurt as she was about Erik and this Lorna girl, but it applied all the same.

When Erik's eyes went to Raven's stomach, so did her hand. "A few somethings," she said in a half whisper. "Tell me Erik, when was it, before you 'woke up' here? Had we... had Shaw...?" She wasn't sure how to finish, but hoped he'd catch on.

"Almost," he was willing to admit. "She's not like me or you. She's very...lively." A polite way of saying that she talked more than anyone else he knew, and she was certainly more excitable. That much energy combined with that much power. Erik could see how much she needed him.

He didn't know what she meant by a 'few' somethings. The one something, the obvious one, was a surprise enough. What on earth could she have possibly been hiding? And what did it have to do with Shaw? The hairs on the back of his neck rose and his back stiffened slightly against the window. "We'd just brought the students back to the mansion. They were half way to destroying it, but Charles didn't seem to care-- you remember," Erik said, brushing a hand through his hair.

"We were all here, like we are now." Easily the first time he'd felt safe amongst his own in years.

"We were all here," Raven repeated, "up until Shaw made his move." She took a deep breath and told him seriously, "A lot happened, after what you remember of us all here. Tell me, honestly," Raven met his eyes before she asked, "how much of it do you want to know?"

She wasn't sure if she should tell him about what happened in Cuba and during the two years since. Knowing that, it would probably be hard for him to go on living this dream of Charles'. But he's the same Erik, she reasoned to herself. He's the same Magneto. Can anything... Would anything have stopped him from making the choice to leave? Still, she didn't want to ruin things for the other young mutants here, like Lorna, who needed Erik there to guide and teach them. So, she decided to let him dictate what he wanted to learn of his future– her past.
