She laughed and nudged his shin with the tip of her shoe. "I really do live in one. It's not mine. I'm an orphan and they took me in." It was ... well, it was a flat-out lie, as far as she knew. Her parents were still alive, but they didn't want a goddamn thing to do with her. She also figured she shouldn't be sharing everything about where she lived, but ... well. She could share the interesting bits as conversation warranted.
"And don't forget the sex," she pointed out. "When we're not tidying, cleaning, or cooking, we should be naked and ready in case the urge strikes."
Jaime did listen to his story, a queer look contorting her expression when he mentioned being disowned, and she very nearly asked if he was a mutant too before she caught herself. "Why'd they. Um. Why'd they ditch you?" There was a sort of eagerness to the question, though she wasn't aware of it. It would be nice to find a kindred spirit, someone who could really understand what it was like to be tossed aside. She wondered if that was his case, or if he'd wanted to be away from them. Some kids did, she knew.
