Jack Harkness. ([info]harknessjack) wrote in [info]silverage,
"Mmm, humans just generally don't believe in something they can't see," he replied, looking at her as he stood there. "Ghosts? They automatically assume that just because they can't see it, they don't exist. Same with aliens. They've never seen one, obviously, they aren't real. Humans in general operate under the notion, 'I'll believe it when I see it.'" He shrugged. "Doesn't mean they're bad or that it's a bad thing, it's just a close-mindedness in a way. You have to have the proof to believe something is real."

Jack smiled a little, genuinely as he looked at her. He wasn't alien in the typical way people believe aliens to look, but that was something else altogether. "Mm, well. I am human, just born on another planet. By then the 21st century definition of alien doesn't really exist." Pause. "Well. The 21st century definition of a lot of things aren't relevant anymore."

He nodded a little. "Louisiana, love it down there. Enjoy the crawfish," he squinted at the sky for just a mere moment before looking over at her again. "Well, I haven't actually ever met a vampire before. A real one anyway, that wasn't an alien posing as a vampire," he exhaled a little. "Werewolves, yeah. They can be, but they're highly misunderstood. At least the ones I've read in the legends anyway." He looked at her seriously a second. "Do they hurt you or ... " he was probably overstepping bounds by asking that, but he felt the need to anyway.

Jack looked at his shoes when she asked that. "Over two millenia," he said and looked over at her seriously. "I lost my family. My daughter, my grandson. My job. The person I loved. My friends. Everything."
