It was Ruby Bridges 60th birthday! Ruby was the first African American child to attend an all white school in the south. It wasn't easy for her, either. It's so heart breaking to think people could be so awful to a six year old little girl. She now shares her story, which I think is wonderful. It can't be easy to recall all the hatred and violence thrown at her just because of her skin color.
Classes are going to start soon, and I can't wait. I'm ready to get back to class. I miss taking notes.

It's nice to have some quiet time, away from the business of campus. I actually missed Iowa for once. It's flat, quiet, and boring, but it's pretty to look at, especially when the sun is rising. It's nice to start the day on the front porch with a cup of coffee, watching the sun rise.
Sometimes I wonder why I left.Then dad hits mom and I remember. Not like I got far away from that where I ended up, though.

Fancy schmanchy upscale beach bar in Bali, eying up who's in the infinity pool and who should be. Good to know that my ass is still the best damn formed one in this place. Darius' is a close third as theres a pilates instructor in the morning who definitely spends a lot of time working on his glutes.

Summer session officially over. My first Master classes under my belt.
This is all a lot harder than I thought. I can only imagine what life will be like after the break.
But I am looking forward to my fall classes and a change of pace. Just right now I feel like I should be prepping all the time.

Today it has been mostly rainy. Way to live up to our stereotype, England! Good excuse to watch films and cuddle up under a blanket on the bank holiday though.

Okay, so the album art for the Tony Bennett/Lady Gaga album is creeping me out. He's holding her hand really weird, and she looks like plastic.
Even though the track listing is nothing groundbreaking, I still want it. I'm afraid it's going to give my nightmares though. I might need to have it blessed by a priest before bringing it home. I don't want that bad juju in my dorm.

Oh man I've missed Bob. I haven't gotten off of him since I've been home. Bob's my boy. Makes me really wish it didn't get cold out there, or I'd bring him with me. Also? Have proven these cows like RC cars. Now everyone is taking turns running the car through the pastures.

Congratulations. I would like to thank the faculty and staff who have made my first year as a Department head very memorable. Also, those students who have worked hard to bring about the end of another successful session. I am sure the Fall term will prove to be just as brilliant as this summer.

I'm a kind fucking soul Giselle. Stop threatening me bodily harm.
Oh god. This summers dig was hell and short lived. Normally, I'm gone the whole summer and scrambling around trying to mentally change gears to whatever I'm doing next. Next this time around being I'm teaching here! I'll be instructing an Intro Into Anthropology. I'm sure many are gone on vacation Hello Ghost Town!, and I guess I should be thankful for the month of adjustment/preparation I'm going to have for all my classes.
I'll also try to have a better look around campus. Speaking of, was that a strip club that I saw?
