Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Gellert and Albus
WHEN: Now
WHERE: Wherever the wind takes us!
WHAT: Clearly I did not think this through.

Gellert was frustrated beyond all reason. The search for the Hallows had stalled, thanks to being catapulted into the future. All the trails had gone cold, he didn't even know where to begin to look for new information, and he was beginning to fear that it might be hopeless.

Obviously, it was vital that they return to their own time.

"Obviously," he said, pacing on the sidewalk in Hogsmeade, where they had come to enjoy the quaint village atmosphere because it was so crowded in the Ministry housing, "it is vital that we return to our own time."

Gellert paused and tapped a finger against his lips. He was wearing his jeans again, mostly because he could, and a rather fuzzy sweater that he feared made him look silly but which was quite warm. "But," he mused. "How to manage this. Perhaps! You should get a job in the Department of Mysteries."

"Hush," he instructed and shook his head at Gellert, "If you stop pouting and focus on the task no such thing will happen and you'll be down in a few moments. I could request the farthest and highest apple from the branches, but I'll make this easy and request the closest one instead," he said and laughed softly. He had a fair opinion of Gellert's tree climbing skills, he wasn't doing much of a funny job of it but there was the slight chance he would fall and then Albus might feel marginally guilty for goading him.. but that was yet to happen.

He leaned back and opened his book to the proper page once more, his brilliant, twinkling eyes turning back to peruse the pages. But sadly neither his mind focus, nor could his eyes as they twitched back to the blond every thirty seconds then away again and his mind.. well it was replaying their shared kiss. A first kiss, really, it wasn't so.. magical as women sometimes made it out to be but there was definitely something else there.. It had felt.. different.

"Gellert, hurry up." The words surprised Albus.

Oh, so he was laughing now? Gellert made a huffy sound and another reckless jump. He was well within reach of the fruit by now, but he had no intention of simply handing over the closest one as Albus requested; that would not be a fair test of his skills. He saw a group of apples that looked perfectly lovely, just a couple branches higher; it required some twisty movements and one soft curse under his breath when he smacked his knee on the tree trunk, but finally he was in reach, straddling a branch and hooking his ankles together so he wouldn't slip off.

He was rather peeved about Albus's obvious attention to the book, until he noticed his friend glancing up at him. And then Albus spoke, and Gellert was almost certain it had absolutely nothing to do with his desire for apples.

In response, Gellert plucked the first of the group and dropped it, aiming for the pages of the book; from this height, he missed, but only by a foot or so, and at least he didn't hit Albus in the head. "Why are you rushing me?" he asked mildly, as if he didn't know. "That desperate to get a sweet apple between your teeth, my dear?"

The apple shouldn't have surprised him, but it did and he blamed it mostly on being lost in his own thoughts when it fell, otherwise he could have flicked it away. He picked it up and considered tossing it back at Gellert but chances were it would veer terribly off course or fall entirely too short, so all he did was take a bite of it and shrug a thin shoulder at his friend's inquiry. "Something of the sort, but by all means then.. take your time as you've just given me a fine apple," he said lightly and pointedly turned back to the book.

He wasn't that transparent, was he? Somewhere in the back of his mind Albus recognized how ridiculous that thought was. He never doubted himself so he brushed away the concern like it was an irksome fly. But his blue eyes trailed back up, "I thought you wanted to read?" he asked, avoiding the term cuddle as best as he could just then. It was a queer term, after all.

Albus gave up on the pages rather quickly and tossed the book aside for later handling, he was far too distracted to focus clearly on it anyway. Not when his mind kept drifting around to Gellert and his damnable kiss. "Stop being a prat and come back down," he said warily, leaning back against the trunk of the tree.

Gellert watched him like a hawk, plucking three more apples without looking, which made two for each of them; then, just to spite Albus for forcing him into the tree in the first place, he took his damn time examining the apples minutely for any sign of imperfection. He dropped them one by one after giving each a polish on his sweater.

"I thought you wanted to read," he called down when Albus put the book aside, giving him a wicked little grin. He couldn't be totally sure what had prompted that move, but one thing was certain: finally Albus was paying him more attention than the tome. Which was all he'd ever wanted, really.

Not that this would stop him from stealing it. Of course.

"And I'm not being a prat," he continued, slipping lithely down through the branches and hopping easily to the ground. "I'm doing what you wanted." He gave Albus a wide-eyed look. "Don't you want me to do what you want?"
