WHO: Gellert and Albus
WHEN: Now
WHERE: Wherever the wind takes us!
WHAT: Clearly I did not think this through.

Gellert was frustrated beyond all reason. The search for the Hallows had stalled, thanks to being catapulted into the future. All the trails had gone cold, he didn't even know where to begin to look for new information, and he was beginning to fear that it might be hopeless.

Obviously, it was vital that they return to their own time.

"Obviously," he said, pacing on the sidewalk in Hogsmeade, where they had come to enjoy the quaint village atmosphere because it was so crowded in the Ministry housing, "it is vital that we return to our own time."

Gellert paused and tapped a finger against his lips. He was wearing his jeans again, mostly because he could, and a rather fuzzy sweater that he feared made him look silly but which was quite warm. "But," he mused. "How to manage this. Perhaps! You should get a job in the Department of Mysteries."

"I hope you're far too busy too," he said matter-of-factly and laughed, pulling the book out of Gellert's reach, in fact all he did was lift his hand above both of their heads. His height definitely gave him an advantage over Gellert. Albus laughed good naturally and broke away from his friend's grasp. "I'm not done reading this, Gellert, when I've finished you can peruse the pages yourself." He knew very well it wasn't about the book, but he wasn't going to give Gellert the satisfaction. Or.. at least not yet. Albus smiled knowingly at Gellert and idly walked away from him and in the general direction towards their new Ministry approved housing.

"I will be very busy," Gellert said crossly. Silly Albus, and his tricks. When all Gellert was trying to do was help him to improve his focus. "Reading books. So allow me to begin, please."

The please sounded more like a command than a politeness.

He walked after Albus, catching up quickly, and tucked his arm through the other man's, leaning his head on Albus's shoulder - or as close to it as he could reach, anyway. "Must we go back?" he asked plaintively. "We could find a quiet place in the countryside, sit under a tree and read together. We could buy apples."

He slowed his quick pace, he had very long legs after all so he walked rather fast, and smiled to himself at Gellert's presence and finally came to a halt. He peered down at the book in his hand then glanced sideways at his friend. There was definitely no one better at swaying Albus Dumbledore's heart than Gellert Grindelwald... With a roll of his eyes, Albus acquiesced Gellert his idea and slowly turned around to head back the way they'd come. "This isn't book isn't exactly reading material for the countryside, Gellert, Alchemy and the Philosopher's Stone." He didn't include what the book was about other than the title. It had been very interesting to learn that he'd worked with Nicolas Flamel.

"Do you have gold on you for apples, if not I suspect you'll be making me pick them from the nearest tree... in which case I assure you I'd rather sit back and admire you while you do it yourself."

Oh yes. Gellert had his best friend wrapped around his finger. Always had, really. And he would prevail in this war over the book; he simply needed to change tactics. A long game, that was it. Involving apples, and reading material.

"I am interested in alchemy," Gellert insisted, managing to turn as well without either tripping or letting go of Albus's arm. "It was nearly my favourite class, at Durmstrang." Dark Arts had been the real favourite, of course. "Perhaps you are only reading it because you did not learn it at Hogwarts, hm?" It was a longstanding discussion/debate, the differences in academics between their alma maters; personally, Gellert thought he'd won the day he learned about Care of Magical Creatures, the most utterly useless class ever invented. But still they argued. For the intellectuality of it all, of course.

"I have gold," he added. "You may admire me anyway."
