Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Gellert and Albus
WHEN: Now
WHERE: Wherever the wind takes us!
WHAT: Clearly I did not think this through.

Gellert was frustrated beyond all reason. The search for the Hallows had stalled, thanks to being catapulted into the future. All the trails had gone cold, he didn't even know where to begin to look for new information, and he was beginning to fear that it might be hopeless.

Obviously, it was vital that they return to their own time.

"Obviously," he said, pacing on the sidewalk in Hogsmeade, where they had come to enjoy the quaint village atmosphere because it was so crowded in the Ministry housing, "it is vital that we return to our own time."

Gellert paused and tapped a finger against his lips. He was wearing his jeans again, mostly because he could, and a rather fuzzy sweater that he feared made him look silly but which was quite warm. "But," he mused. "How to manage this. Perhaps! You should get a job in the Department of Mysteries."

Gellert reached after the book again, covering it with a soothing pat of Albus's hand.

Of course, then Albus mentioned the damned hallows, and Gellert made a little huffy sound and flounced off down the street, toward the outskirts of town.

"But perhaps the way to get to the hallows is through political power!" he insisted. "I know that's not what we originally planned, but while you have been hiding in the library not getting enough sun - " It really was depressing, how pale Albus got sometimes - "I have been asking around and trying my best to find the slightest scrap of information that could give us a clue. But mention Godric's Hollow now, and you get nothing but swooning over people called Potters. It is truly distressing." He gave Albus an earnest look over his shoulder, like a puppy in need of comfort. "This would be easier in our own time," he finished, cajolingly. "Therefore, we must return to our own time. Therefore, we need the resources of the Ministry."

He did not vocalise his true fear, which was that they had already found the Hallows, in this dimension, that they had lost their shot. They needed to accomplish their quest in a place where there could be no competition with themselves.

Obviously he was upset, and the way he nanced off down the street was very indicative of his agitation, leastwise is was to Dumbledore who knew him best. Albus almost let him go so that he could return to his book, but that little lost puppy dog expression pulled him after like a magnet did to metal. With an exasperated roll of his eyes, Dumbledore trudged after Gellert and caught up to him before long, carefully reaching out to curl an arm around Gellert's thin frame. Maybe his friend was just home sick? Albus was perfectly thrilled to be here, it was a very curious contemporary world with so much more knowledge than the one they just came from.

"You're probably right, Gellert, you usually are," he commented in a low tone and offered the briefest of smiles to his friend. "I'll inquire as to a position inside of the Ministry, certainly they can use all of the brilliant minds they can find to send people back to the worlds they come from and in the mean time, you can mingle with the people.. go up to the castle perhaps and peruse the books there for information on the Hallows and figure out who the Potters are and their importance inside of Godric's Hollow, clearly these people don't know or remember the history of who lived there before them." That was probably a gross amount of things that Gellert would not want to do, but Albus could play games and not allow his friend the satisfaction to laze around and skim books as it suited him.

They would both work and work very hard if he could help it.

Gellert leaned into Albus automatically, keeping his hands to himself for the moment. He was just waiting his moment to strike at the book. Of course, this new position made it far too clear that Albus was more than a head taller than him - which had never seemd quite fair to Gellert - and he made a small noise of discontent.

"You will inquire," Gellert said, a statement rather than a command. He sighed heavily. "And I suppose I can take over your research, as you will be far too busy." He liked research, he truly did; only, it was such a solitary pursuit, and while Gellert hated dealing with peons, he hated even more being hunched over some book by himself. What was life without someone to yell at?

And speaking of research. He turned his head and nuzzled against Albus's collarbone for a brief instant, then made a grab for the book. Which he would need! For the research!
