Unforgiveable by camillo1978
Title: Unforgiveable
Artist: [info]camillo1978
Pairing: None
Rating: PG
Medium: Pastel pencils; colour saturation increase and contrast adjustment in Photoshop
Warnings: None
Theme: Quest
Prompt: Let slip the dogs of war
Summary: Snape casts the killing curse
A/N: Snape's quest for redemption - and the fact that he is forced to kill in order to progress the war - seemed appropriate for this theme and prompt. According to JKR, in order to perform an Unforgiveable, you have to "really mean it". Attempting to convey that alongside some more ambiguous emotion was a grand challenge ;-) Many thanks to dickgloucester for beta-work and helping to select the final version.

WOW... So lifelike! I LOVE the expression, and the glow of the green on his pale face.

Very traumatic, but beautifully done.

WOW! The raw colors in this ... gah! It looks just like a bronze bust with green and orange spotlights cast on it. Breath-taking!

The details of his face showing the anguish and concentration for the Killing Curse is fenominal: the lines in the forehead, the scrunched up nose, the wide-open mouth. Is that a tear flowing down from his left eye?

The uneven teeth attest to his harsh life, and I love his greasy hair! This fits well with the prompt.

*squee* I could look at it all day!

I really, really love this. It's heartbreaking and intense and just so many things, and so beautifully drawn. You did an amazing job and I just stare at it and can't take my eyes off of it because there's so much emotion in his face. Truly, truly excellent. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

I am also trying to get yahoo to let me post news of your uploaded art to the SS yahoo group, at which point you should get quite a few more views. Hopefully it will listen to me soon... *grumbles at yahoo*

Well, I was so freaking excited when I saw you were in this Fest, and I'm definitely not disappointed. Gorgeous, as always. Stunning. Full of pain and angst and beauty. He all but leaps off the page and grabs the viewer by the throat (not such a bad thought, yes?) and yells in our faces. And then we hug him and make it all better. Love it, love him, love you :)

*is stunned*

Oh. My. Goodness.

I am so happy I came back from vacation today and was able to see this immediately. EXCELLENT job, hun. His eyes... oh god, his eyes. He looks so weary yet intense. And the lines on his forehead just scream determination. So well rendered.

And the fact that his tie is perfectly straight while he is casting? *loves* It takes a lot to get my Severus ruffled *cough*Harry*/cough* - I am so into the fact that even fighting for his life doesn't get him emotional enough to let go.

*still lvoes*

OMG, this is probably your best piece ever! I hate to see Snape in so much anguish, but you've done a terrific job portraying it. The hair, the teeth, the eyes, even the straining of his vocal chords! The color contrast really makes the piece stand out. I've always adored your work, but now I think I'm in love with it!

This is amazing work. You're one of the few that gets the greasy hair look but still makes it ok. His facial expression, the coloring, the crinkles in his face - superb. I feel like I can hear him yelling. Truly stunning.

Wow, I'm in awe of your skill and this gorgeous pic of our beloved prof. The first thing I noticed were his teeth and then his eyes. That sickly green tint adds to the anguish and anger that the eyes seem to have about them.

Have done three loads of laundry, gone to the grocery store, and prepared food for Mini and myself. Thought that productive enough to warrant coming back to ogle this picture again. Then, I discovered I was unable to simply gaze at it and leave... am compelled to tell you *again* how VERY much this picture gets to me. In fact, I saved it as the background image on my laptop. *nods*

*really freaking loves you*

it's beautiful and intense and real. every line in his face speaks of his pain, even the reflection in his eyes.

the use of green is wonderful here - a dark reminder of which curse he is casting! you captured his torment and anguish so well!

I think this is one of my favorite portraits of Severus.

He doesn't just look angry here. He looks twisted by it, and that is a difficult emotion to evoke, be it with fic or art.

Truly marvelous. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us.
