Summary: There are things in this world that are hard to admit. Written for atypicalsnowman who wanted a “happy” Drabble.

“Severus?”

Harry paused in the doorway, watching his partner gaze unseeingly out the window. Severus turned, looking so bewildered that Harry crossed the room and wrapped him in a hug before consciously deciding to move. “What is it, love?”

“I.” Severus stopped, frowning.

This hesitation, more than anything, worried Harry. Even at his worse Severus was able to keep his composure, rattling off scathing diatribes or calm suggestions while everyone else was running about half-cocked. “Yes?”

“You have ruined me.” Severus sighed, unbending enough to wrap his left arm around Harry’s waist.

Where once declarations like this would have frightened Harry, sending him on a downward spiral of self-doubt and insecurity, several years of living together had taught him to let statements like this go in one ear and out the other. “All right,” he said agreeably.

“While standing here, contemplating our years together, I realized what should have been glaringly apparent from the start.” Severus pulled back, giving Harry a look of wounded dignity. “With you, I am happy.”
