12 DEAD, DOZENS INJURED IN HOGSMEADE ATTACK
HOGSMEADE, SCOTLAND (DP) - Nothing about the morning of 24 November indicated the terror that was to follow.
It was a clear, crisp day, and students from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry were venturing into the village for one of their allowed visits. The jovial atmosphere soon turned into one of screams and chaos, however, when the Death Eaters descended upon the town.
Bystanders claim the spells flew for more than an hour, and in the end, the body count was at least twelve, with dozens more injured. Sources say that both residents of the village and students at Hogwarts were among those dead. However, both the mayor of Hogsmeade and Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts, are withholding the names of the slain.
Bartemius Crouch, Minister for Magical Law Enforcement, was quoted on the scene as saying that "everything is under control" and that "those responsible for this travesty will be punished". Grieving family members, however, are left wondering if the punishment of their loved ones' killers will do anything to ease their pain.

Several Aurors have been stationed to post at Hogwarts since the recent appearance of a student's body on the grounds. This includes the stylishly handsome and sensual Auror John Dawlish, who has become a recent favorite among the teenaged girls. In addition to patrolling, the Aurors will be carefully interviewing the students who found the body and those who recently returned to the school grounds under suspicion (though no one knows the latter, unless the returned choose to say something).
