It seemed like years since Remus had left his small flat in Earl's Court rather than just a few short months. But when Remus had nothing but solitude to fill his time, the days seemed to stretch on for weeks and weeks rather than just hours like any normal day.
Remus knew he was lonely, but he also knew that no man would willingly want to spend time with him. He was too old, to set in his ways and much too depressed to catch anyone's eye but someone who was much the same as himself.
Running a hand through his hair, Remus glanced up at the Muggle bookshop on the corner. His first day out of the house in nearly three months and the first place his feet took him to was to a Muggle bookshop. Either he was a very sick man and couldn't go five blocks without finding the nearest bookstore and going in or there was something inside that Remus had to see and would somehow lead him to find the love of his life.
With a snort, Remus pushed the door open and entered.
His subconscious was too wired into books for it to be anything but the first reason. If there was some other metaphysical reason that Remus had entered Barney & James Booksellers, Inc this fine August morning... well, he would eat his very non-existent hat.
"Can I help you?"
Remus turned around, giving the clerk a quick once over. Not too tall and definitely not too bright. How this guy was managing a book store was beyond Remus. Oh, if only he could get a job at a book store rather than the menial work he was doing now. How wonderful life would be. Of course, at the end of the month, his employer would probably tell him he owed the shop fourteen galleons in books.
Easy come, easy go.
Remus shook his head and pressed further into the shop. "No, I'm fine," he replied after a moment, "just got lost in my thoughts for a minute or two."
The clerk raised an eyebrow, first at Remus's response then at his more than dishevelled appearance. He almost said something then shook his head. The customers who visited the shop were becoming more and more eccentric every day. Soon they'd have people who were calling themselves Wizards come into the shop. The clerk smiled to himself. The day that happened, he'd hang up his apron and retire to a nice padded room somewhere.
Remus made his way to the back of the shop, not quite sure just what he was looking for, but wanting a book in general. He was though, surprised to find someone else in the Rare Book section; a section that was usually frequented only by himself. Raising a brow, he looked the other man over from behind.
There were three words to describe the man: gay, straight or English just by his manner of dress and how he held himself. If Remus was a betting man, he was more than willing to say English with a side of 'gay' thrown in as well.
"Afternoon," Remus said with a smile. "The name's Remus."
"Giles," the man replied, his voice laced with a beautiful lilt. There was at least the English as the man sure as hell wasn't an American.
Remus nodded and moved beside Giles, browsing the shelves. After catching Giles checking out his arse for the fourth time, he knew his assessment of 'gay' was correct as well.
"You know," Remus said thoughtfully, "I have quite a collection of rare books back at my flat. You're welcome to take a look at them and we could even read through one if you'd like."
Giles smiled. "I usually don't accept offers like that, but why not? Let me pay for these and we can be on our way."

It was odd taking the long way back to his flat, but there was no way he could Apparate back home (or evening explaining what Apparating was for that matter) without Giles thinking he was completely nutters. The moment they stepped into the small flat, Remus turned and pressed Giles against the door, capturing his lips in a mind-numbing kiss. His hands roamed everywhere, finally coming to rest on the rapidly growing bulge in Giles's trousers.
"You had no intention of reading when we came back here, did you?" Giles asked, amusement evident in his voice.
Remus shook his head. "No. But I thought... we both wanted..."
Suddenly Remus grew unsure of himself, wondering if he had made the biggest mistake of his life.
"It's fine by me," Giles said, dropping his parcel from the bookstore on the chair by the bed.
This time it was Giles who made the move first by unbuttoning Remus's shirt. His hands paused seeing scars peppered across what should have been a flawless chest. Hesitating only slightly, Giles raised his hand, running a fingertip slowly along a gagged scar across Remus's stomach.
"Who did this to you?" Giles asked softly.
Remus pulled the shirt from Giles's hands, trying to recover himself up again. He should have listened to his instincts; the ones that had been shouting for the past twenty minutes that this was a stupid, stupid idea.
"When I tell you, you'll run out of here as if the devil himself were at your heels," Remus replied, head down so he didn't have to meet Giles's eyes.
Giles cupped Remus's chin with his hand and forced him to look up and into his eyes. "Try me. You'd be surprised at what I've seen over the years. If a teenage girl staking fourteen vampires in one night won't shock me," Giles said, testing the waters, "I don't think anything you could tell me would shock me."
Remus was taken slightly aback. "You're a Wizard?" he asked softly of Giles, letting his shirt drop from his hands and just hang open.
Giles shook his head. "No. I used to be a Watcher for a... well, I'm not sure if brilliant would be the way to describe Buffy." Remus raised an eyebrow at the girl's (or, at least he hoped it was a girl's name) "... for a girl who was a Vampire Hunter back in the states. Things happened that I don't care to go into, and I've returned home to England to live out the rest of my lonely life in peace."
Alright, so maybe he wouldn't run.
"I'm a werewolf," Remus said softly.
Giles parted the shirt again, running his finger along another scar. When Remus didn't pull away from him, he leaned forward and caressed the same scar once again, this time with his tongue. Only Sirius had ever dared to taste his scars, and Remus responded, arching into Giles's touch.
"I knew a werewolf," Giles said, looking up at Remus. "I didn't run from him and it's nothing that will make me run from you."
A strange pang hit Remus's stomach, remembering those words, or something similar come from Sirius many, many years ago. A look of sadness passed over Remus's face but he quickly wiped it away before Giles could see it.
"Thank you," Remus whispered, pulling Giles to his feet and kissing him.
Giles responded to the kiss, finally pushing the rest of Remus's shirt off his shoulders. Remus guided Giles to the bed, removing pieces of his clothing as they went and by the time they fell onto the bed together, both men were completely nude. They began with small touches, learning what made the other moan and what particular touch made the other writhe on the bed begging for more.
It was Remus who produced the jar of oil, handing it to Giles. He took it without a word as Remus rolled onto his stomach, propping himself up onto his hands and knees. Giles lightly kissed the small of Remus's back, slipping one slicked up finger into him. Groaning under his breath, Remus pushed back against that one finger. Merlin, it had been too long.
"Tell me... tell me if I'm going too fast," Giles said softly, afraid that speech would ruin the sanctity of the moment.
"You're just fine," Remus replied, his teeth clenching on their own volition. "I'm fine."
"You don't... sound fine," Giles said, pushing a second finger inside Remus's arse, beginning to stretch him.
Remus pushed back onto his hand, forcing himself to relax. After letting out the breath that he'd been holding, he suddenly found Giles's advances more pleasurable. Especially when his fingertip barely brushed just there and oh gods...
"I... please, Giles..." Remus whimpered, trying to stay relaxed and support himself in his precarious position at the same time.
Slowly, Giles moved into position, the head of his cock just brushing Remus's entrance. Growling with a sudden impatience, Remus pushed backwards, trying to send the message to Giles of 'inside now'. The message was received loud and clear and soon Giles was sheathed to the hilt inside Remus.
Placing a soft kiss on Remus's shoulder blade, Giles began to build up a rhythm between them, rocking against Remus; his balls slapping Remus's arse the faster he moved. Giles thrust into Remus faster, unable to control his thrusts because of how good and tight Remus felt around him. Wrapping a hand around himself, Remus stroked his cock in time with each of Giles's thrusts; Giles never batting his hand away to 'take charge'.
They came at the same time in a harmony of cries, the smell of sex heavy in the air. Remus's knees could no longer hold their combined weight and together, they collapsed onto the bed; Giles slipping out of Remus.
The grand realisation came to Remus just then that Giles was the first man to ever fuck him since Sirius's death. And somehow, Sirius's death seemed slightly more bearable now.
"What are you thinking about?" Giles asked, pulling Remus into his arms and tangling their legs together.
Remus shook his head. "About..." he chuckled, "about the fact that we never did read that book you came by to read."
Giles ran his hand through Remus's hair. "I could stay if you wanted... and we could read it later."
"In bed?" Remus asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Unless you had another place in mind."
Remus shook his head, snuggling against Giles, content for the first time in months. "Sounds like a brilliant plan to me."
