Silver Age Wonder Woman This is my last Silver Age post. Tomorrow it's back to the Golden Age.
Golden Age Steven Trevor was a cool guy. He wasn't in the least intimidated by the fact that his girlfriend could overpower him with one hand tied behind her back (which it often was), he thought she was the bee's knees. Plus he did plenty of heroic stuff on his own, without any superpowers.
Silver Age Steven Trevor, however, was a dick.

More Silver Age Wonder Woman Crack Via the blog Amazon Princess I found these photos of Wonder Woman and Flash going about their daily lives, grocery shopping, taking care of the kids, etc. I found it kind of amusing. Some material may be NSFW for nudity. No sex or anything, though.
Today's scans are from Wonder Woman #145. The story was 30 pages long.

For a change, Silver Age Wonder Woman crack First, a couple of WW-related cartoons I cut out years ago.
These are from Wonder Woman #129, which is 30 pages long. I believe there are only two issues that featured Wonder Tot's boyfriend Mermite, and this is one of them.
Wonder Tot has her detractors, and it's not surprising; the cutesy way she refers to herself in the third person is highly irritating. (I have never heard any child do this in real life, though one mother on my F-list says her toddler sometimes does it.) However, I have a soft spot for her because she's such a driven little Amazon. While Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl are dithering over their boyfriends, she's honing her warrior skills and seeking adventure.
The canon about the identities of Wonder Girl and Wonder Tot is inconsistent. It seems at first, they were supposed to be Wonder Woman when she was younger. Then they started doing "Impossible Tales" like the one we're about to see by allegedly splicing together film of Diana at different ages. Later on, it seems they dropped this entirely and gave Wonder Woman two younger sisters. I haven't read them in order, so I can't remember if they did this in order or if they switched back and forth; the latter wouldn't surprise me at all.
Also, I've said it before and I'll say it again: Golden Age Steve Trevor was a cool guy. Silver Age Steve Trevor was a dick.

Golden Age Wonder Woman Bondage These scans are from Wonder Woman #3, published in 1943. This is one of the cracktastic issues that are tempting to just scan every page of, but I controlled myself. I just posted the three crackiest pages. It wasn't easy to choose, either.

Golden Age Wonder Woman Crack These are from Wonder Woman #2, 1942. Marston was very into astral projection and that kind of thing and he used it in his stories all the time. This is one of those. Steve Trevor's injured and in a coma, his astral self is imprisoned by the war-god Mars, and Wonder Woman astrally projects herself to Mars to find him.
Interestingly, according to Marston, being incorporeal is no reason not to get tied up.

George Perez, the zenith of Wonder Woman's career. I originally made this post during Wonder Woman Week, hence the pile of links, which I hope y'all won't mind my sharing again.
The Links:
teh_no answered my challenge of a one-line Wonder Woman/Black Canary fic.
joasakura wrote a delightful fic about Amazon Spanking Therapy.
Wonder Woman: Enemy Of Freedom by Nicolas Juzda. I'm not here to judge or condemn. That's the job of each and every one of you. My aim is simply to lay out the facts in a clear and unbiased manner, until you can make an informed decision about the depths to which this hellspawned harpy has sunk all on your own.
If you want more Golden Age WW, scans of her daily newspaper strip from the 40's can be found here. Also there's an article and several scans here.
There are WW cartoons here and here.
hradzka wrote Escape Artistry, which is about, um, Batman and Wonder Woman tying each other up.
The Curse of Bast Author: mosellegreen Fandom: Golden Age Wonder Woman & Black Canary Pairing: Wonder Woman/Black Canary Rating: PG-13 Summary: The romance of Dinah and Diana is interrupted when they must rescue Larry Lance from a crazed cult led by a high priestess with a pack of slavegirls. Notes: Thank you to grey_bard, ink_n_imp, and carlanime for beta. Written for the alien_altars challenge. Illustration by ink_n_imp!
So, now to George Perez. There are now four volumes of trades of his issues, and high time. He was the one who got me into comic books as an adult. I was always a Wonder Woman fan, at first chiefly because she was "the girl" and I needed someone to pretend to be when I was running around the backyard. But I stopped reading her comics before I entered adolescence.
Then when I was 17, I impulsively picked up the latest issue of Wonder Woman from the newsstand, just for old times' sake.

Wonder Woman Spectacular: Amazons in Skimpy Armor This 80-page-long "Wonder Woman Spectacular" was published in 1978 but is set during WWII. It was written by Jack C. Harris and drawn by several guys, including Steve Ditko. And it's basically just an excuse to show slutty-looking Amazons in skimpy armor and provocative poses - exactly what I love George Perez for not doing.

Golden Age Wonder Woman Crack These are from Wonder Woman #3, 1943. H.G. Peter's art doesn't seem up to his usual (admittedly quirky) standard in this issue. But hey, the issue involves the Baroness Von Gunther, invisible slavegirls, mind control devices and bondage.

The Reformation of Paula von Gunther These are from Wonder Woman #3, 1943. This is when the reformation of Baroness Paula von Gunther begins. I suspect Marston just decided on the spur of the moment to reform her, because the motivation he gives her seems totally unconvincing in light of everything she's done up till now.

Bronze Age Wonder Woman These are from Wonder Woman: The Greatest Stories Ever Told, which I heartily recommend it to all Wondy fans. It opens with a nice long Golden Age story featuring a villain named Eviless, bizarre gadgets, outrageous outfits, and a lot more bondage than most Golden Age Wonder Woman stories. (Yes, I said "a lot more bondage than most Golden Age Wonder Woman stories".) There's also a story from the George Perez era.
These are the only scans from this book I'm posting; I'm hoping to entice y'all to buy it. ;-) They're from Wonder Woman #286, published in 1981.

Golden Age Wonder Woman crack These are from Wonder Woman #4, 1943. Paula von Gunther and other inmates of Reformation Island must pass various tests to prove that they have reformed and are ready to leave the island and serve Aphrodite. Marston really seemed to like these contests. And they always seemed to involve girls getting tied up - BDSM as competitive sport.

Golden Age Wonder Woman meets the Mole Men These are from Wonder Woman #4, 1943.
When I was a kid in the 70's, I bought a current issue of Wonder Woman that dealt with these same Mole Men. In fact, the story was almost the same, except without Paula von Gunther. And there's another Golden Age story I shared with y'all recently where Wonder Woman dealt with the Seal Men. In a nutshell, WW kept encountering semi-animalistic men who cruelly oppressed normal-looking human women until the Amazing Amazon showed up. Oh, if only the symbolism were less subtle!
