Re: Official Warning Take a look at the list-- the problem with extremely vague terms like "anti-ablist" is that they can be switched at-will to mean "anything I disagree with." (In this case "ablist" literally isn't even a word.)
If people cannot express themselves without resorting to insults, personal attacks, racism, sexism, homophobia, ableism, etc, then clearly they need to brush up on some basic skills: writing, manners, human decency, etc.
Here's a little secret: it's actually not fun to have to warn or ban people. The moderators actually do want people to get along, have fun, have exciting debates, and want this place to be where people can rant and rave about comics, make fun of them, enjoy them, and learn about them. They are actually not out to get you, or suppress dissenting opinions.
But when people walk in here and start trying to tell people to shut up or quit whining about the things that concern them? When people make threats or insult each other? That's pissing in the community pool, my friend, and nobody wants to swim in that.
Which is why we need the community ethos to avoid that kind of crap.
I mean really, do you really want to defend people who make fun or are hateful toward people with disabilities? Would you really want to hang out in a place that condones that? I don't. Ableism is real, and scans_daily is a better place for not tolerating it, just as it is a better place for not making light of rape.
