Just FYI, posting to Blogger or Wordpress is a good deal *easier* than dealing with LiveJournal's crummy software, or InsaneJournal's even crummier version of same.
The real difference is that you can host your Wordpress or Blogger blog behind your own domain name, so it looks like you own it. Domain names are pretty cheap. (It shouldn't matter, but it matters. Kind of like the quality of paper you use for your resume.)
Alternatively, if you want to actually own the site, you can grab a DreamHost account (let me know, I'll make you a coupon code), use their "one-click installer" to install the stand-alone WordPress software, and post there. Costs a bit more, but then you own the domain, the data, and have a lot more flexibility when it comes to monetizing it. DreamHost will even sell you the domain name now.
