Alfred! What'll Tim say about this?

Why is Alfred kissing Spoiler?!

Spoiler: It isn't Spoiler!

I posted this years ago in old Scans Daily. According to the file name, it's from a book called "Nightwing: Alfred's Return." That's about all I know.

New icon!

Now seriously, it is always a rare treat to see the gentlemen's gentleman, Batman's "Batman" enjoy himself.

Congrats, Mr. Pennysworth. You've earned it.

If you mean my BARF icon, I've been using this since old S_D.

If you mean COOL STORY BRO, then...

Hahaha, now that is terrific! First thing I thought when I saw that was that it'd make a good icon...which is the first thing I think when I see anything come to think of it.

Considering the white in the woman's hair, it was pretty obvious that it wasn't Spoiler, quite frankly.

The face looked too old to be Steph to get me I'm afraid.

A quick summation is that Alfred is taking some long overdue vacation and has been touring the world after quitting working for Bruce in KnightQuest.

Dick goes looking for him to ask him to come home, and finds him in London. Aside from a nice bit where A) Dick discovers that Alfred is an instant hit with the entire staff of the hotel he's staying in ("He's the only guest we've ever had to fill in a "How did you enjoy your stay" card every day of his visit, and some of his ideas have been brilliant") and B) Dick lists the places that Alfred had been visiting (Dick's "Antarctica?" is matched only by Alfred's almost apologetic "I wanted to see some penguins") it's more Alfred's story than Dick's.

Alfred has been approached by this woman, an old flame from before he left for the USA, who reveals later on that Derek is actually Alfred's son, and coincidentally she needs his help to get Derek out of a jam. Long story short, she lied to Alfred and Derek is not his son, and that helps Alfred to decide to go back to his "real" family.

I love this story. Alfred would totally have the world at his feet if he wanted it.

I was just re-reading this the other day. It's basically a "ALFRED guest starring Nightwing" one-shot (but I guess that title wouldn't sell). Takes place during the AzBats era, when Alfred has left Bruce because Bruce is being a dick (what's new) and has a death wish. Alfred goes back to England and meets his old love from his acting days. These two were about to get married (literally) when "Johnny" comes in and announces that he and this "Joanna" have been getting it on on the sly. Alfred punches out Johnny, ditched Joanna at the altar and flees to Gotham (the next, as you know, is history).

Anyway, Joanna convinces Alfred that her son Derek is really HIS son (Derek had tried to borrow 50Gs from Alfie because he's in hock to the British mob) and asks him to help Derek out. Dick comes in looking for Alfred and the two of them take down a traitorous plot against Britain planned by a loony Duke and the mob (seriously) and Derek is shot dead in the cross-fire. Alfred tries to comfort Joanna but she tells him that she lied and that Derek really was Johnny's son but she wanted Alfred's help so much (and she loves him, blah, blah). Alfred storms off and goes back to Gotham with Dick after hearing Bruce is being less Dick-ish. I think the comic was 60 pages long so there was quite a bit of stuff going on. Not terrible though.

It must be mandated: No happy endings for the bat books!

At least he had this moment :(

I have this. I don't know what's sadder, when Alfred finds out he has been deceived or NightWing's ugly costume and extra-icky, extra-long pony tail.

I really don't see Alfred doing the air-punch thing. Clicking his heels in the air, definitely.

You can't see his feet in that panel, but he's doing both, I assure you.

Yesss
This is marvelous. I love the smirk on the doorman's face in the last panel almost as much as I like the smug look on Alfred's as he fixes hi tie.
