When Alan Moore was crap (Spawn/WildCATs, Part 2; Guest-starring Gen13)
The worst thing Alan Moore's ever written, I'm sure of it.
There's one scene in particular here that's in such bad taste, I don't have words.
The story here's an iteration of the "Heroes journey to the future, where Evil's won" plot, Evil being the Spawn of the future in this case. Present-Spawn and the WildCATs attempt a three-pronged attack on future-Spawn's headquarters. The three squads will rendezvous at the center, where future-Spawn's throne room is.
One squad attacks from the top:
That's Grunge and Burnout from the comic Gen13. They're taken out.
Another squad teleports into the middle floor of the building:
A third squad infiltrates from the storm drains:
The three squads meet up and enter the throne room.
Present-Spawn is transported back to the present day so that future-Spawn won't have any further knowledge of what's going to happen in 2015.
Why are the tasks divided along gender lines this way, you ask? Beats me. The story never gives any explanation.
And so the whole Spawn-ruled future fades out of existence.
Well, clearly I was wrong in thinking this story was terrible. If the cosmic gods are impressed, who am I to disagree?
