She just re-appeared in New Avengers -- or the Hood mini.

Satana was also in the (rather dull) Witches miniseries that co-starred Jennifer Kale (who Satana called "Hip-Hop Barbie") and Topaz (who was ethnically changed to look like she was from India for some reason).

Wasn't Kale written as bi, for no reason?

To provide fodder for slashfic written by the opposite gender?

When it comes to attractive female characters, there is no such thing as "no reason" for turning them bisexual. ;)

She's been one iconoclastic British writer away from being Marvel's Abby Cable for years now, so I suppose revealing a taste for the ladies isn't all that shocking.

Of course she did! She's a Marvel character from the '70s! Why WOULDN'T Bendis bring her back? He has a hard-on for '70s Marvel characters the way Tarantino has a hard-on for '70s actors! :)

Who turn out to only have enough potential to be good for that movie, or that comic, but otherwise had nothing in them. I refer you to a certain Mr. Travolta, whom I'd been glad to see disappear before PULP FICTION, and he could have done the same afterward and I wouldn't have minded.

PS--Kurt Russell doesn't count as he never stopped kicking ass.

Kurt Russell's career has never ended - it has merely gone into waiting.

Well, so do I, for that matter, Boxy. I might not be a fan of '70s storytelling (esp. from DC), but there were some great character ideas -- not that I'm saying this is one, as I find most of Satanna's appearances reminiscent of better stories by EC Comics.

Though, to be fair, I might be confusing her with any of a dozen other horror/sexploitation type characters of the era.

Yeah, but see, in this reply, you're doing something that Bendis doesn't do - you're actually exercising a marginally discriminating taste about which '70s characters you prefer. Bendis doesn't really HAVE that filter. And while some of his experiments with '70s characters have worked - I doubt Luke Cage will ever be relegated to the back of the bus crowd shots again - there's a lot of other '70s characters who have been brought back that show no real redeeming virtues other than "Bendis splooges over them." In some ways, he'd be better served by being LESS of a fan of those characters.

70s characters. Hm. Well, here's the cure:

I think we're done here. Bye, 70s. You sucked to live in and your comics were not ALL good. Or even mostly.

That four of those characters are dead is a bit telling.

I, uh, actually kinda like all those characters, yes, they're epically dumb, no question, but at least they're epically SOMETHING. It's the boring ones that annoy me.
