X-Men Forever 6
Paul Smith fills in as artist for this breather issue. The team takes time to get their bearings in the wake of the upheavals of the first arc.

Cereal and beer? An...odd combination, to say the least.

Okay, now I know I'm missing information about this story arc, so I won't ask the obvious questions- like why Sabertooth is blind, why he's eating cereal with beer, or how his interaction with Prof X is supposed to make any sense at all.

What I will ask is; Has anyone ever heard a Kenyan use the term 'ain't'? I'm prepared to accept that I might be wrong, but I always penned it as an American colloquialism.

I agree with you. Claremont always got each character's voice right on. Maybe this because of her time in New Orleans with Gambit?

But I have no idea when this series is set or what it's about, so I could be way off.

One, "ain't" isn't American. If you read a lot of 19th century English fiction, you'll see a lot of words that today we associate more with the American south (recon is another). Two, a Kenyan (or anyone else) will speak English the way whoever taught it to her speaks it. It is jarring to see Storm use the word, though. She's so often written as the type to make big speeches with no contractions.

Wasn't her father American or something?

Yeah, and I read that she lived in Harlem for a while apparently.

I think she's partly doing it to mimic Gambit.

Even though you didn't ask, I'll answer. ^_^
"like why Sabertooth is blind" Adult Storm destroyed his eyes. Why there are two storms is one of the mysteries.
"why he's eating cereal with beer," Lactose Intolerance? *G*
"or how his interaction with Prof X is supposed to make any sense at all."
See, Kitty and Logan where fighting some powerful guy who can mess with powers and Kitty was trying to phase Logan and the bad guy used his powers on them. Because of this Kitty got one of Logan's claws, some of his temper, and hopefully some of his healing ability.
Adult Storm then kills Logan and now Sabertooth decides that Kitty is related to him.

To further clarify, this series is following Claremont's original concept for Sabretooth, which was that he was Wolverine's father. That's why he wants to get revenge on Wolverine's killers and why he now feels he and Kitty are connected. He doesn't think she's literally related to him, just that she has part of his son within her.

I'm surprised those things jumped out at you but not that Storm was a little girl.

Cajuns don't often say "hom," at least not anymore. Yes, they speak French, but it's a regional dialect. They call people "T-" as in a diminiative for "petite." T-Scott, I must admit, has a certain charm to it.

T-Ro.

T-Charles.

T-Wolv.

T-Rogue.

I would love to see this.

Well Paul Smith did some of the best art of the X-Men during the 80s.

Man, everyone raves about Byrne. But I really think that Paul Smith and tthen JRJr was a far better period of art.

I saw an epsode of M*A*S*H not too long ago which had Hawkeye eating cereal with beer. I didn' realize it was quite so common a breakfast.
