Blackest Night: GLC #40 preview
The DCUBlog has the latest, wordless preview to Blackest Night. Yes, the s#@t has hit the fan, but it looks like we may have one genuine moment of welcome respite (before someone's heart gets torn out).

Oh yeah, mild SPOILERS behind the cut.

This image is so confusing, I know a lot of stuff is going on but I can't make out the details, and more importantly, I can't get the sense of dread, horror, conflict and valiant defense that I should be getting seeing the Green Lantern Corp defend against the Black Lanterns.

Is it because Jade has/had the energy of a different type of Green Lantern as part of her essence she hasn't been corrupted as much as the others?

in any case, I oddly found it moving.

Actually it might have something to do with her twin brother Todd.
Jade was always the light to his darkness. Maybe she has some immunity to it.

Well, the source of her father's and her powers was originally referred to as the Green Flame of Life...

My feelings exactly. It may also be a reason for Salomon Grundy to be tied to the Black Lanterns.
I really think this goes further back than the Hal Jordan Green Lanterns. I think Alan Scott and Family will be real forces in this epic, maybe that's why Todd hasn't been around in a while.

Well, it goes back to Nekron. As the big Black Lantern was made from the Anti-Monitor, he didn't have the opportunity till then.

I'm still wondering though as to where these powers and their batteries originated, like for instance the Orange one. And I'm suspecting this is yet another instance of Fucking Guardians and their Fucking Past Mistakes.

I've always thought Todd was underused. I remember how back in the old JSA days (when he was a villain again) it was theorized that Todd - like the Shade - may be immortal since he can basically live in the Shadowlands forever. I like to theorize that Obisidian's powers (being all black and dark) can battle the Black Lanterns where others have failed since he is the opposite of emotions, the opposite of light - total darkness.

I'd also really think it fitting if Todd is the one to bring Jade back to life (and I really think she like Aquaman and J'onn will be resurrected when this is all over) considering she is the one person who has given him unconditional love (even when he was a bad guy) from the moment they were reunited as adults.
