Well, yes, but there's a fine line between 'keeping things interesting', and 'actively inconveniencing yourself'. I mean, think of how many times Superman did something as Clark Kent, then realized when it was too late that this might give away his secret identity, and spent the rest of the story desperately covering his tracks. The guy wasn't havin' fun there - he was doing damage control. I can understand making things more interesting when you're in control of the situation, but when you're genuinely in a tight spot, why not wrap things up quickly?
