Yeah, that's entirely possible. Although I do wonder when exactly it became commonly acknowledged that girls developed sooner than boys.
I mean, nowadays, they say that girls hit puberty far earlier, possibly because of things like added hormones and antibiotics in meat and dairy and whatnot. But I wonder if that's always been the standard assumption, and now biology is reinforcing that further, or if it used to be just a cultural understanding.
