What people dislike about this story is that, while there are credible ways for the villains to win temporarily, none of the ways in which they have won have been credible, and thus, the villains have already "won," by making their heroes look stupid, weak or even outright evil, to levels that they never should have been portrayed as in the first place. I prefer my heroes and villains to be INTELLIGENT people, with internally consistent characterizations, who win or lose based on their well-documented strengths and weaknesses, and not based on plot events happening simply because the writer says so.
Every single character in the Marvel Universe right now is carrying an Idiot Ball, and I have no respect for, or interest in, characters who only do what they do because the writer is forcing them to carry Idiot Balls. Character should always determine plot, and not the other way around.
