I'm not denying that someone who generally refrains from drinking could decide to do so in certain social situations, but I don't see why it's so hard to admit that the sole reason for Peter's drinking in the latest Spidey story was to force him into a 'humorous' situation ('LOL, drunken sex with a roommate!'), even though it conflicted with his previously established attitude/s towards alcohol and responsible drinking. It was plot necessitating an uncharacteristic action from a character, which is kinda lame. I admit it is nitpicking (though the fact recent stories give us so much to nitpick says something, I think), but can we collectively acknowledge that Peter drinking to the point he can't remember the previous night isn't exactly in character and the writer just wanted a way to justify him crawling into bed with someone in order create drama? Acknowledging that doesn't mean you think it's a bad story, or the writer a bad writer, or everything post-OMD is garbage, it's just being aware of the fact that the writer has a story to tell and he might tweak the characters in order to tell it.
