Together again, for the first time.

News from Chicago concerning the futures of Agents of Atlas and Incredible Hercules.

From the Mondo Marvel panel:

"Incredible Hercules" arc "Assault on New Olympus" begins in November. "The Agents of Atlas will feature in this and have backup stories," Paniccia said.

The final question related to whether the Agents of Atlas would stick around after Dark Reign. Paniccia said they would fight the X-Men in a two-issue series, appear in backups in "Incredible Hercules," and then the series would be relaunched.

You can't say Marvel isn't giving Agents of Atlas a fair shake.

Looks like a reunion between Namora and Herc is on the horizon, if the Agents are appearing in that storyline.

	The textures on the clothing are very odd... not like cloth or traditional random comic book shading. It's more like the light cast by the in-game engine in a 360 game. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	The more "realistically" you render a skin-tight costume, the more it looks like body paint. You can see his toes for cryin' out loud. No wonder Herc is perturbed: "By the zestful zither of Zeus, where art thy genitals??" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

I think you get the body paint look out of a more unrealistic rendering, actually. Cloth has volume and texture, so it will obscure the body's lines somewhat. Superhero artists tend to study anatomy moreso than drapery, so they tend to end up drawing idealized (genital-free) nude form with lines denoting costume patterns.

Studying this one a bit more it seems to painted, and I wonder if applying that anatomy-first that approach to Spidey in paint isn't resulting in the odd look. Usually when painters do superheroes, they try to introduce texture to the costumes to make them look more natural (like Herc's). So when you see Spidey's toes and the weird gradient shadows, it's a little unsettling.

	Well, to be fair, Spidey's boots ARE basically thin socks with a sole sewn into the bottom of them - it makes sense that you'd see his toes. It's just not a detail most artists bother with. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Depends how tight they are, really - on the rare occasions when I've worn tights as part of a costume or something, I could generally make out my toes when I wriggled them - but then, tights are made of a slightly thinner material than Spidey's boots would be. It also depends on what angle you're seeing them at. Note that we can't see his toes from the bottom, just when his foot is shown poking directly towards us.

Cable & Deadpool #31 Deadpool dropped Goliath (Whose day got much worse later on) onto Herc.

Hercules (Insane and foaming at the mouth) "PREPARE THYSELF FOR THE GIFT!"
Deadpool (Hiding behind Captain America) "Eep! Please let it be a gift from Victoria's Secret!"

He then proceeds to shoot a zillion tranquilizer darts into Herc's face.

Weird, as soon as I mention this, I noticed a picture of Deadpool and Herc enjoying ale together on Marvel.com. Guess they are teaming up.

Agents of Atlas is one of the best of the current Marvel books, and it's a little sad to see it struggling to find readers.

That said, the X-Men crossover seems the kind of thing that could draw a larger audience's attention.

And if they must relegate AoA to 'co-feature' status (if only temporarily) putting it in Incredible Herc (one of other truly awesome Marvel books of the moment) is pretty much a best-case scenario.

Hopefully, these moves will really pay off and set up the AoA relaunch for much-deserved success!

Whatever the case, props to TPTB at Marvel for showing a vastly unappreciated title a little love.

	I'm really enjoying Agents of Atlas right now, so I'm glad to see this bit of news. On the other hand, I hope I don't miss anything in the Herc issues...I'm not sure my LCS has them. And yay, non-Dark Reign relaunch! has fingers crossed (Reply to this)
