Is it scientifically possible for a book to suck harder than Ultimatum?

It was like, that Spike TV show, 1000 ways to die, but with your beloved characters, except, not, like, bastardized version of your beloved characters.

I also need to bleach my brain for that scene where Mystique called Magneto daddy, while in the guise of a bikini clad Scarlett Witch, I'm still convinced that it wasn't the bullet that has done her in, I bet it was the cold since it was SNOWING.

The death of Doctor Strange was the capstone to me. Wow, an interesting character horrible killed, awesome.

Oh cool, the really fun and enjoyable Ultimate SpiderMan has to get rebooted even though the entire series has existed for ya know LESS THAN 10 GOD DAMN YEARS.

Is the final issue just going to have a fill page spread of Loeb raping all the female Ultimate characters? Will that be the end?

What happened to Ultimate Marvel? I heard it used to be good, and now it's all been downhill.

Have to agree on the Loeb bit...Loeb and Land ruin more comics than any other two "professionals" I can think of.

Not that Land is involved here - but wouldn't it be awesome if he was! :P

What about his FEET?

Damn it, I loved the Ultimate Doctor Doom Ennis introduced when he was writing UFF. Powerful, intimidating, bat-shit crazy, and highly distinct from his 616 counterpart. One of those points of distinction were his hoof-like feet; Reed even points them out as a marker of Doom's degeneration during their fight.

But as far as I know, that arc was the last time Doom had the hoof-feet. The next time he appeared, he was being drawn by Greg Land (guh) and looked exactly like 616 Doom. Did anyone, ever, take the time to explain this? Or was it just another case of an interesting idea being dropped entirely when the talented person writing it left it in the hands of the less-talented?

Of course I meant ELLIS, not Ennis. Curse our lack of ability to edit our posts!

Actually, Mark Millar fought to have Doom have the hoofs in that arc, but Marvel said no. But Millar has said that he still has hoofs, he just wears boots over them.

Well, good on Mark Millar, and a big middle finger to "Marvel", whoever that actually means in this context (probably Big Daddy Joey Q, but I suppose it could be all kinds of people). It boggles my mind that the powers-that-be could object to a character being more identifiable and unique, but I guess that's big business.

And, I have to admit, the boots thing makes sense. Once he stopped being totally crazy (which he obviously did, at some point; Millar may have wanted to maintain the hooves, but there's no denying he totally changed Van Damme's voice from Ellis's version) I can see Victor being vain enough to have specially-constructed boots made to hide his "deformity". I'd love for that to be brought up at some point; Doom is at home relaxing, and he lowers his hood, takes off his gauntlets, removes his boots to wiggle his hoof-tips...

I'm not sure I should even be saying this, well, typing it out loud, but I didn't mind the ending to Ultimatum.

I mean, I can't deny it when people say Ultimatum is terrible, but I don't think it's the worst story of all time. And I did think it took guts on Marvels part to kill off some of the characters, even if it's only the Ultimate versions. Some of the bigger name characters might come back of course but I'm still excited for Ultimate Comics Avengers and Spider-man. Might as well throw in Ultimate Armor Wars as well.

It would also take guts to have Dr. House rape a patient and then slit her throat on an episdoe, but it doesn't make it enjoyable.

This entire min was just SHOCKING DEATH, GOREGOREGOREGOREGORE, SHOCK DEATH, GOREGOREGORE, INCEST, GORE.

You have a point about the killing off part--I seem to remember one of the selling points of the UU was that anything could happen, since they're not supposed to have any pull with the regular 616 universe.

So yeah, I'm glad that they're trying to put that back into place, but, to quote one of the last big WTF death-scenes before this series--not like this.
