Team Evaluations

Four scans from Dark Reign: Young Avengers #3.

Feels like a while since one of these came out; anyway, last issue ended with the Young Avengers offering the "Dark" Young Avengers the chance to join the group if they're judged worthy enough.  When HYDRA launches a bunch of raids across the city, the teams split up into pairs.

First, Stature and Big Zero.

"...an Avenger."  There's a lot of those transitions.

And hey, she for once was shown to have learned something useful in the Initiative.

Elsewhere, Wiccan and Hulkling go with Enchantress II:

She later claims, when with her own group, that this was an act she put on to win them over, but it makes sense for her actual origin.

Eli goes with Melter; Kate with Executioner (who tries to blackmail her by revealing he knows who she is); Vision with Egghead; and Speed with Coat-of-Arms:

"...an Avenger."

The YAs decide that they like Enchantress and Coat-of-Arms, but that the others are all really unsuitable (in Melter's case, because Eli can tell he's hiding something), and Executioner and Egghead (Vision plans to deactivate him because he's too dangerous to be left active) have to be dealt with.

However, the Dark YAs are all still working as a collective, apart from, ironically, Melter, who feels the pull of being their kind on hero, and Coat, who is, once again, really ambiguous.

Lying to SHIELD agents isn't useful?

Wait, wait. Coat of Arms' magical coat flies too? I really want one now.

Hmm.. Asgard did reappear in Oklahoma, so it could still be Amora's soul in Sylvie's body without realizing it, I guess.

Whoever left the coat -while obviously evil- has some good taste in comics, quoting WE3 like that. Maybe it was Loki..?

We've seen Amora since the return of the Asgardians, though, in Fraction's Thor God-Sized Special; I suppose this could be ignoring that, but Cornell's continuity-fu has been exemplary for most of his Marvel work.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that. Carry on then.
Still, it's a bit of an odd conincidence though, especially if it's also the same city. Gives more fodder to my "set up by a classic Avengers villain" theory.

It's the same town too.

Broxton, Oklahoma.

Maybe she knew Bill.

... Since when did Teddy call Billy 'William'? He's never done it before has he?

Not that I know of; I assumed he was joking regarding Sylvie's pretentious assumed speech.

Hmm... You could be right. I hope you're right anyway. 'William' is just waaay to formal for Wiccan XD

Maybe it's an ID disguise; "I go by Billy, they'll never deduce that from 'William'" - this is the guy who doesn't wear a mask and yet somehow has a secret ID, so he's known for being counterintuitive.

If Enchantress's story is true, I'll like her a lot more, so I'll be operating under the assumption that it is from now on. Also, I really hope not all of these kids go evil, and at least one or two join the YA-- otherwise, it'd just be really lame.

All the guys look like they're absolutely miserable, also.

I'm not entirely sure that Stature's definition of 'safely killing the rotors' is...quite accurate. Breaking them against the support structure of a bridge seems a bad idea, even if the artist hadn't shown bits of the rotors and/or masonry flying off in all directions.

I bet the guys who'll have to repair the bridge are already cursing her.

So Enchantress II is from Broxton? And she woke up with powers one morning for no particular reason? Suddenly the image of Volstagg indiscriminately emptying his chamber-pot over the side of Asgard comes to mind.

So, Great Power should be along the x-axis as the independent variable, and Great Responsibility along the y.

Her picture irritates me. In that world, both subjects are real as was the action. Intimating that it isn't says more about the cynicism of the artist than a rational non-conspiracy theorist observer. And it becomes a form of leeching on a genuine celebrity.

Also, graphfail.
