I was thinking more of the immediate follow-up to giving away his identity. That had to sting. Superman kept his hidden from one of the best reporters in Metropolis for decades. Air Wave goes on one date with a sixteen-year old girl and she figures it out. (He wore too much cologne and let her get within smelling distance while he was in costume.) Then again, knowing Ollie probably made him overconfident. If no one figured out who he was with that beard -not to mention no one recognizing Dinah because she's wearing a wig)-, he might have thought he was safe.

Actually, he worried about giving away his identity several times in the story, which doesn't exactly make him look better.
