This is the problem with simultaneously a) making Norman Osborn EVERYONE'S enemy, and then b) making his rule of the Marvel Universe the new STATUS QUO.
I mean, okay, realistically, I guess I can understand why Spider-Man wouldn't be able to stop him on his own - as much as it rankles me from a dramatic standpoint - but seriously, that NOBODY is able to stop him, even COMBINED, and especially when Marvel's writers and editors are portraying him as so OPENLY evil? That makes BOTH the heroes AND Norman look useless.
Worse yet, the fact that they keep selling this angle of EVERYONE IN AMERICA LOVES HIM, in spite of the fact that his "secret identity" as the Green Goblin is even LESS secret than Matt Murdock's "secret identity" as Daredevil, pretty much necessarily means that the American public in the Marvel Universe is 100-percent pure evil.
I forget the title and issue number, but there was a press conference in which everyone was actually LAUGHING about Norman "having a thing for young blondes," and I'm thinking, HOLY SHIT, THIS GUY HAS ALL BUT BEEN PROVEN TO BE THE GREEN GOBLIN, AND EVERYONE'S LAUGHING ABOUT THIS WHEN HE KILLED GWEN STACY??? I mean, best-case scenario, Norman is the "superhero" equivalent of O.J. Simpson, and you didn't hear people saying, "Oh, he's out with another blonde again? That lovable scamp!"
