now, maybe Dave Bowman didn't go starchild in 616, but the fact remains: there was a monolith, monkeys touched it, and then humanity happened.
(... which makes my subject kinda inaccurate, so it's exactly like a comic cover in that sense.)
then Aaron Stack happens, thanks to Abel Stack.
and then the monolith happens to Aaron Stack, which I can't include because page limits, but that apparently happened in the 2001 comics as well (and he was also called Mister Machine), So Yeah.
Aaron Stack then has adventures, a lot of which involve Bastion trying to turn him into the ultimate Sentinel. Eventually, he makes his way to Central City, where a series of events lead him to this:
and so Aaron Stack goes off to the Celestials. But first, he has to take care of some business, involving AIM, now being run by another Abel Stack intelligence whose evil plan works out to:
