*ROFL at Joker's pre-Photoshop photoshopped hand, which was not in the original panel*

I know where that image of Joker came from - he's looming over Boss Rupert Thorne, who's swooning on the floor in front of him. Knowing that just makes the Cracktionary panel even better worse crackier.

"What's the matter with you, Thorne?"

"Y-you're not....?"

"Are you implying you could mistake me for someone else??"

"You tape Supergirl to the chair. You stick her to the chair," Doctor Developer said, "Meanwhile, I'll tape you tying her up. I'll make a video recording of you tying her up."

I want to hear the story of the other times she was taped.

Personally, I'm sick of tape being used as cheap backstory for female characters!

Tape is the natural enemy of super-heroines. I mean, a cat-girl said it, so it must be true!

Tape as drama?

This is the Joker, so shouldn't it be Tape as Comedy?

Or, since Joker's a Batman villain, is it Tape is the new Dead Parents?

Kara learned too late that the Joker knew the secret of duct tape, WD40 and vice grips.

I'm getting a mental picture of the Joker going 'Oh, yeah? We'll see about THAT!', then we cut to half an hour later with Supergirl completely cocooned inside what must be about a hundred feet of tape.

And then she breaks it, and he cries, softly, like a little girl.

She might have some trouble, actually - no matter how strong you are, you need leverage to do anything, and leverage is a little tricky when your arms are all mucked up and entangled. It might take her a minute or two.

Or she could flex.

My point is that, if your arms are entangled in huge amounts of tape, there's going to be a fair amount of stretching and ripping and disentangling before you're free of it. She might be able to get off a fair amount of it by flexing, but she'd still have to work her way free of multiple layers of the stuff before she was completely free of it. It probably wouldn't take her very long, but still.

But she's Supergirl. She's, like, strong and stuff.

Look, let me put it this way - if it were ropes we were talking about, I'd agree with you. Ropes snap - they're made of fairly simple fibers, and given enough pressure, they just snap. Tape is different. Tape is sticky. It sticks to itself, it sticks to other things, it crumples up and then sticks in that shape. Furthermore, the stickiness makes it stretchier than rope, so it holds on longer - and when wound over and around itself into multiple layers, it becomes truly diabolical. Why do you think duct tape has the reputation it does? Sure, Supergirl probably COULD get it off without too much effort, but I continue to maintain that it'd take her at least a minute to work through the various layers, and then after she pummeled the Joker, she'd be picking the stuff off herself for about an hour afterwards. (Plus, I could be wrong, but I don't think she's quite as strong as Superman.)
