Diana Prince? Seriously? When has she really been a Prince? A cover identity doesn't count as an identity.

I bought this issue, but I still don't feel very good about having done so.

Geoff Johns said you'll like the secret identity, and GOSH DARN IT YOU WILL.

Black Hand's magically managed to learn the secret identities of something like half of the superheroes in the DC universe, and you're complaining he learned the wrong secret identity of one of them?

The complaint is that Diana Prince isn't Diana's real name. She wasn't even using the Diana Prince identity when she was killed by Neron.

True, but Superman's birth name is Kal-El, and he still answers to it. Yet the death entity refers to him as Clark Kent, which is what he considers himself.

But Diana doesn't consider herself Diana Prince. She was raised Diana of Themyscria, she's only been using the Di Prince identity maybe two years her time.

I like to assume since truth is part of Diana's whole shtick that if she makes up a secret identity (no matter how poorly made it is) she considers herself it just as much as she does Princess Diana.

It also bears mentioning that, even in post-Crisis, the Heinberg arc was not the first time WW has heard or used the name "Diana Prince" as a moniker.

Superman is just as much Clark Kent as he is Kal-El, though. It's an essential part of his character, where the Super meets the Man. Jor-El and Lara may have given birth to him, but it was Jon and Martha who made him who he is.

Birth name has nothing to do with it. It's who you are, deep down.

Bruce is still the son of the Waynes, no matter how much he twists himself.

Clark, when asked who are his parents, will always say "the Kents."

Diana... who the hell are the Princes? No parents of hers. Diana Prince is fiction (erm, in the DCU I mean). It makes as much sense as having Black Hand refer to Batman as Matches Malone. It's just Geoff doing his damndest to make this secret identity stick, even when everything is against him.

He doesn't know them, the Black tells him.

Well, yeah. It's magic, it's giving him the "real names" of everyone. So this is basically Johns saying "according to uber-powerful cosmic magic, Wonder Woman's real name is Diana Prince!"

For which he should be tarred and feathered.

Except Diana HAS died, before being raised as the Goddess of Truth.

That wasn't the argument here, though I did double-check that because I'm criminally behind on Diana's Post-Crisis history.

Speaking of which, Bluefall's been notably absent of late.

I've noticed! Regulars really tend to be as conspicuous by their absence as the lack of Vic/Helena follow-up, especially when they're as vocal as she is. I don't recall seeing anything since the Wonder Woman post a couple weeks back, I hope that didn't have anything to do with it.

I literally saw red when I read that bullshit.

I always thought that was a metaphor or something.
