The Fate of David Cannon
So in my post series about Jan's bad luck with stalkers, the question of just what the hell happened to Whirlwind came up, since it initially looked like he'd been killed in an incident with the Avengers.

Mention of events from Thunderbolts: Reason in Madness and one page from Dark Reign: Zodiac.

So it turns out Cannon's not dead after all. He shows up in Thunderbolts with a bunch of second-string villains who appeal to Venom's sense of chaos in an attempt to get him to turn on Osborn. Problem is, Venom's decided he likes being in the Thunderbolts, since it means he gets to kill with permission, and sells them out. Though Osborn gets torn up pretty bad, he wins, and banishes the second stringers "back to the bars and brothels they came from." However, he later decides Cannon might be useful for something, and, snidely citing his prior work history, "offers" him a job. This is the last we see of Cannon until after the end of Secret Invasion.

When he pops up in Dark Reign: Zodiac, we get to see what that job is (and by implication, the 'prior work history' mentioned).

Anyway, while Cannon's beef is humiliation (Menial job to get close to the woman you want to kidnap? Fine. Being forced to do it? Hate.), the people he's feeding information to are other villains, mostly second-stringers and new characters the writer created (including the leader of this bunch of psychos, Zodiac), who view Norman as a sell-out for at least faking being a superhero and want to fuck his shit up for kicks.

Considering a couple of interviews that left a bad taste in my mouth and the fact that the writer's way of explaining why Zodiac uses the name made me both gag and roll my eyes, I'm probably not gonna be continuing this series. Any of y'all who might be vaguely interested in what happens to Cannon after this are on your own.
