I thought Natasha was being pointlessly obstructive through this issue (or, rather, the point was to kill time; this arc is twelve issues, and clearly could have been scaled down by a few of those).

Wow really 12 fucking issues? I was hoping thought it would end at 10. This arc has been nearly abysmal. Fraction doesn't do mega-arcs too well *cough seven capital cities of heaven cough*.

I dunno, considering that Maria is supposed to be a ex-SHIELD agent (who, whatever her qualifications as the Director, was supposedly excellent in the field), she's coming off as so scrambled and out of it here that I wouldn't blame Natasha for writing this off as a nervous breakdown. And even if it is genuine, she still has to figure whether it's worth getting dragged into the large cloud of trouble that is very definetly following Maria.

But at the same time, Natasha is no idiot, and she obviously gets the point that Maria is being hunted by Osborn - who she knows is an asshole. Therefore, even if Maria does look frantic and dishevelled, she still knows Maria's come from Tony and wouldn't be such a moron in obstructing Hill and wasting time.

As for the 'cloud of trouble' following Maria - She's already associated with Bucky, who isn't Osborn's best friend, either. For Natasha to even have a public apartment seems a touch ridiculous, to me.

It's just Fraction dragging things out for another few pages so he can revisit the plot next month.

Obviously this is my new femslash love.
Obviously Marvel will make them an item and kick Tony in the teeth or else Marvel just doesn't love me enough.

That's what he said too, but he was drooling rather creepily at the time.

"Dammit! She's slowly pulling our target to that rooftop! By hand, apparently! If only we had some kind of... of long-range, projectile weapon... thingies... we could probably have prevented their escape."

That'll teach them to be directed by Steven Spielberg. Stupid walkie-talkies.

"She is very unimpressively getting away!"

I can't wait for Maria and 'Tasha to escape the baffled police on an escalator.

Is it me or doesn't that sound very Natasha-like?

No, it doesn't, especially the lines at the end there. But in this Bendis world of Marvel, do you really expect anyone to sound like themselves anymore?

Like I said above, this seems inconsistent in general. Brubaker's got Bucky hooking up with Natasha on a frequent basis - A man who hangs with one of two Avengers groups currently not under Osborn's control. For her to even have a public apartment is ridiculous, let alone screwing around with a woman being hunted by a man who is also hunting some of her friends.

Fraction isn't a good writer, unless he's paired up with Brubaker or doing some indy work, and this generally proves it by way of being completely nonsensical.

This arc needs to be done already. The art, just eww. WTF at the backgrounds?
